Hi Syed, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our company is a dynamic publishing business committed to delivering unique and thought-provoking content to readers. Founding Uncover Publishing was a natural extension of my lifelong ambition to share innovative ideas and perspectives with a broader audience. Writing and publishing a book on subjects that resonate deeply with me was my first step toward this goal. This vision materialized with the publication of my book, “What’s Keeping Us Broke”, a work designed to challenge conventional thinking and offer insights into everyday financial struggles.

The ability to self-publish under my own company has been an incredibly liberating experience. It allows me the autonomy to bring my ideas to life without the constraints of external approvals or conventional publishing norms. Beyond personal projects, my goal with Uncover Publishing is to introduce fresh and unconventional concepts to the marketplace—ideas that inspire individuals to think differently and explore alternative approaches to life and problem-solving.

Owning a publishing company provides the platform to innovate and create freely, fostering an environment where transformative ideas can flourish. This independence empowers me to publish on my own terms and share content that sparks inspiration, encouraging others to break away from the expected and explore new possibilities.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Uncover Publishing, our mission is to deliver distinctive and meaningful value to the marketplace through our publications. To date, we have focused on producing activity and coloring books featuring intricate, hand-drawn illustrations that set our designs apart. These unique creations have become our bestsellers, earning appreciation and loyalty from our customers who recognize the personal touch and originality in our work.

In addition to our illustrated offerings, we have ventured into the self-help genre with the publication of “What’s Keeping Us Broke”. This book explores the hidden flaws in traditional personal finance practices, shedding light on how normalized societal habits around spending contribute to financial struggles. This book aims to empower readers with new perspectives on achieving financial stability.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s no shortage of fun things to do in our city! For starters, Discovery Green in downtown is a great family-friendly spot to relax and enjoy some outdoor fun. While you’re in the area, you can also check out the Downtown Aquarium for an exciting experience.

If you’re up for a trip to the Seabrook area, the Kemah Boardwalk is a must-visit. It offers a lovely stroll by the water and some fantastic seafood restaurants. Speaking of seafood, Sam’s Boat is one of the best spots around, with delicious food and a beautiful waterfront view.

For something a little different, head over to Texas City Dike Road. It’s a narrow stretch of road that extends five miles into the water, making it a perfect spot for fishing. And, of course, there’s good old Galveston, which is always a great choice for a beach day.

When it comes to eating out, Houston has an amazing variety of restaurants with cuisines from all over the world. Just do a quick Google search, and you’re bound to find something that hits the spot!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The success of our company is a testament to the remarkable efforts and dedication of my wife, Aziza Faria. She deserves as much recognition for this, if not more than I do. Aziza plays a pivotal role in our business by meticulously designing all of our coloring and activity books, infusing each project with her creativity and passion. Many of the coloring books we have published feature her stunning hand-drawn illustrations, which bring unique charm and character to our work. Truly, without her talent and unwavering commitment, our business would lack its essence and vitality.

I would be remiss not to acknowledge the profound influence of several transformative books that have shaped my journey as an entrepreneur. Titles such as Think and Grow Rich, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Can’t Hurt Me, and No Excuses! have been instrumental in guiding my mindset and decisions, ultimately steering me toward entrepreneurship as a career path. These works have imparted invaluable lessons, encouraging me to embrace challenges, think innovatively, and pursue my goals with unwavering determination.

Together, Aziza’s artistic brilliance and the wisdom gleaned from these influential books have been cornerstones of our business, driving the growth and vision of our publishing journey.
