We had the good fortune of connecting with Synethia Edinborough, Hairstylist at InHerGhee Hair Studio, and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Synethia, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
That it costs to be the BOSS! In order for my business to flourish, I have to show up ready to do the work when it is time to clock in!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a healthy hair stylist, and I specialize in just that! I enjoy being about to educate clients on how to maintain a healthy hair and scalp with a regimen that does not have to be extremely complicated. I am most known for my natural styles & silk presses. I also enjoy servicing children as well. They are the cream of the crop and I really enjoy seeing them smile after each visit! I am most proud of my ability to create an environment that is fun, safe to explore & ask questions and to put your mind at ease the moment you sit in my chair. My goal is create an experience where dope hair is the final touch! What sets me apart from others is that I enjoy being myself, my passion for healthy hair fuels me, and hair is more than just a side hustle for me. It is the ability to change lives one shampoo at a time. I genuinely enjoy what I do & I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with others as I learn.

Has the journey been smooth? Heck no! I faced many challenges both professional and personal that almost made me want to give up! I went from an in-home salon, to a corporate salon, commission based salons, to now being my own boss and in charge of my schedule, and for that I am extremely proud of myself and grateful!

The lessons I have learned along the way is that it takes money to make money, it is ok to change your mind, do what makes YOU happy even if that means leaving a job you’re no longer happy at, and MOST IMPORTANTLY get clear on my vision and what it is that I want to do and be.

What I want others to know about Me, my brand, and my story is that I NEVER gave up, despite the many transitions that took place in my life, I stayed true to my vision and to myself and for that I am grateful & happy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my BF was visiting for a week, here is what we would do:

Sunday-Breakfast/Brunch in the city
Monday-Girl Chat & Pjs all day
Tuesday-Spa Day @ Gangham Spa & late lunch at a local Ramen Spot
Wednesday-Come to work with me/Haircare Appt
Thursday-Throwback Thursday at lounge in the City
Friday-Rooftop Dinner at The Post
Saturday-Girls Night Out/Dance Class

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to SHOUTOUT my ENTIRE support group. Thank you for encouraging me, uplifting me, motivating me, listening to me, inspiring me, helping me, praying for me, and most of all taking this journey WITH me as I continue stepping into my most authentic self! I love and appreciate all of you!
