We had the good fortune of connecting with Donae Chramosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I created the Vintage Contessa from a passion I had my entire life. I reflected to identify the biggest priorities in my life…the parts of my life that were most meaningful. I discovered a term ikigai. It’s the process of reflecting to identify what you love to do, what your good at, what the world needs from you and what you can get paid to do. My passion is and always has been fashion and the connection that surrounds fashion. I followed my passion by creating a business to buy and sell preowned luxury goods, while making a difference in the community and prioritizing time with my family.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Vintage contessa & Times Past is a curated collection of authentic preowned luxury pieces including handbags, accessories, watches, diamonds, jewelry and rare coins. We are different in the fact we are not a consignment store, We purchase the day you come to our store. Each brand from Rolex, Cartier, and Patek Phillippe to Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior is guaranteed authenticate with a money back guarantee. My husband and I built our business from passions for our products and connection with clients. Together we combine his love of watches, rare coins and “the art of the deal” with my love of fashion and making a difference in the world. Because we are so passionate, our work is play, the stories we hear and share keep us growing. We constantly run into challenges from changing international currencies to the pandemic to health issues to finding the best team as a staff. Every day there is a new opportunity to grow but with focus on our purpose- we have learned together we can overcome anything and everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love spending time at River Oaks District. The fashion, style, architecture, outdoor dining is so lovely and creates a luxurious vacation vibe. We’ve hosted a big birthday celebration beginning at Dolce & Gabbana the moving to Toulouse and in 2018. We decorated the outdoor patio to look like an Italian piazza in Capri, Italy with Italian dancers and a Dolce & Gabbana crowned cake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From the time I was a young woman I felt a burning desire to make a difference in the world. I wanted to empower vulnerable woman and children to overcome their challenges and be the best version of themselves they could be. Several years ago I joined forces with a group of Iike minded Texas woman, Houston 20.

Together on behalf of 30 plus non profits we fight to end sex trafficking in our community and beyond. I feel so blessed to be able to use my voice in the fashion industry to make a difference for those struggling. My weekly Living the Authentic Life podcast gives me the opportunity to share stories of people who have overcome adversity and followed their purpose and passions by committing to do the work. When we connect with like minded people to support each other’s journeys we have so much more momentum and strength to carry onward and upward.
