We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashell Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tashell, what is the most important factor behind your success?
This is a such a great question! It made me think to myself for a minute because there are a LOT of factors behind my success. I would say a few of the most important factor behind my success my relationship with God, believing in myself and knowing my purpose. I went through a near death experience that really made me dig in and question the reason for my existence. After searching and praying, I went head first into the beauty industry as a hairstylist.
My experiences of having low self esteem and confidence definitely helped me to serve from a unique perspective as a hairstylist. I remember in my lowest of times going to the hair salon for service and feeling uplifted and inspired from the positive energy in that environment. My purpose and my unique sequence of life’s experiences (my story) lead me to my niche in the industry. My niche is extremely small however I am in high demand because it is very specific. When I zoned into my niche, the flood gates opened WIDE! I am in my own lane! What should our readers know about your business?
OMG ok, So I am very excited about my businesses! I have more than one business and before I jump into what they are, let me tell you what sets me apart from others in all of them. I am unique and there is no one else like me. I have used my story to find my purpose of living, which is very specific to me. My purpose in my definition is what God created me to do while I am on this earth. My businesses are my living assignments from God to help others, therefore I do everything with excellency to be pleasing to God. I often refer to my businesses as my ministry because it’s all about sharing the love of God with others. I am a Licensed Cosmetologist of 22 years now…(wow has it been that long?). To jumpstart my career and get more education, I worked at an established commission based hair salon for 1.5 years. I learned skill set from my colleagues and what business practices I wanted in my own salon. After, that I opened Euphoric Essence Hair Salon in 2008. I did an extensive amount of research and consulted with other hairstylists who had owned salons for advice on EVERYTHING! I can honestly say even though I may have been scared or anxious back then, things transitioned smoothly. My clients followed me and I grew an even larger clientele staying booked months at a time. In 2012, I closed the salon due to my pregnancy with my youngest child. I have one lung so I felt like I had an expiration date on my career as a hairstylist because of the chemicals in the salon environment. I decided to be a stay at home mother and not to return to the hair industry.
After being at home a couple of years, God lead me to open 22 Collectives Apparel, which is a T Shirt line that encourages people of all walks of life to share their story to connect, inspire and give God glory. It is indeed a ministry, that is still being shared all over the world.
In 2016, I was introduced to a haircare line that was chemical-free and it awakened my love for haircare again. At the time, I had natural/chemical – free hair (which I said I would never do lol) and was open to going back behind the chair in a way that was safe for myself and my clients. In 2016, I reopened and rebranded my salon! I developed a new niche salon concept of infusing Hair & Wellness solutions.
My tagline: The Place Where Wellness Meets Beauty..:) Transitioning to such a specific niche catapulted my business to be in extreme demand. Even though I was up for the hard work of rebuilding a clientele, honestly it was easy with some key elements (I have learned along the way) that I consistently implemented. To be equip to give my clients the best, I obtained my Wellness Coaching Certification in 2019.
In 2019, I moved into an open floor salon and hired other stylists. The salon won The Sugar Land Award for the Best Salon in 2019 and 2020. In 2020, Euphoric Essence Salon was inducted into the Sugar Land Business Hall of Fame. Last year when the pandemic hit, I had to close my salon because I am considered extremely high risk. I immediately prayed and asked God to reveal His next steps for my life. I had been planning to launch my haircare line prior to the pandemic, so I went full force into learning about the new terriority of hair care products.
So in 2020, I launched Cadence Taylor Organic Beauty!!! It is named after my 2 daughters Cadence & Taylor..:) Our products deliver salon quality results with Organic, Vegan & Toxin Free ingredients that simplify haircare regimens, give healthy hair results and protect health from chemicals typically found in hair care products. I also have a men’s line named after my husband and my son: William Brooks Lifestyle. I have had to learn sooooo much in this past year of my life.. I guess it was time for a learning curve. lol It has all been worth it! As my product line establishes, I am preparing to launch Euphoric Essence Academy! At Euphoric Essence Academy, I help hairstylists/salon owner find their niche, attract their dream clients, fast track to 6 figures and more to live a fulfilled financially free life!! I have been very successful in the past 13 years and its time for me to give my knowledge and help build others. Everyone deserves for their dreams to come true!
Any challenges that I have faced along the way, I overcame them with prayer, seeking advice from God and those who had experienced the specific challenge. I have learned: -Not to compare myself to others..It’s the biggest thief of joy. -Get to know myself and love myself. My relationship with myself matters! -Be balanced in wellness (spiritually, mentally, emotional, environmentally, physically, etc.) so I can have more productive and fulfilled days.
-It is better to give than to receive.
-Take all of my problems to God, He has it already worked out.
-Tell my story, it changes lives.
-Believe in myself, I am worth it!
-Ask God for what I need.
-Challenges help me growth, don’t try to avoid them.
-Invest in myself, it the only way to increase the value of what I give.
-Thoughts become things, keep them positive.
-Find ways to be an asset to those around you.
To sum it up…. My brand represents Beauty, Wellness, Education and Music! If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmmm, ok you are opening up my brain for some fun imagination… since we can’t go anywhere right now because of the pandemic.:) I am with it!
Monday Lunch: We would kick off the week at Moxie’s for lunch! I love their food and the patio ambiance is sexy and relaxing! Monday Evening: My hubby (he is the Chef in The Williams’ House lol ) would cook some great food, we would have some margaritas and sit back and laugh about old stories.
Tuesday Lunch: We would go Sugar Land Town Center and shop! It’s an outdoor shopping strip with retail stores and restaurants. We would eat at Salata, this great salad spot! Tuesday Evening: Chef Chris would make us some tacos and we would sit in the backyard on the patio and enjoy talking and laughing.
Wednesday Dinner: We would go to Bloom and Bee located inside The Post Oak Hotel and eat a nice dinner. Its so pretty there…Then we would go outside to the pool and enjoy drinks by the fireplace.
Thursday Dinner: We would go to Gloria’s for some Mexican food and salsa dancing!!!
Friday Dinner: We would go bowling, eat and have drinks at Pinstripes! It’s a new spot in Houston off of Kirby!
Saturday: There is an outdoor lounge downtown called Ahmale Bar and Lounge that we would go to dance the night away to live music under streaming lights…That’s my kind of night! Now in real life…I am an introvert, sooooo probably 2 of these days would REALLY happen! lol!!The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, it definitely takes a village of support and love to be where I am today! My 1st shoutout goes to God! He is my everything and gets the glory for my LIFE and success! I want to shoutout my family! My husband Chris Williams is my biggest cheerleader! What I want to do, he takes it on as his project as well and is my support in whatever capacity I need him. I can rolled over to talk business at 3:00am (my brain doesn’t stop) and he will look at me crazy, then say, “Now what did you say…?” He encourages & challenges me all at the same time! I love him! I want to shoutout my beautiful kids Tamiah, Taylor, Larry and Cadence! Their existence alone encourages me to strive to be the best version of myself DAILY. Everything I do is purposed to leave a legacy for my family. I love them so much! I have a host of family members (too many to name) that have supported me along my journey. I am so grateful! There are a special few that let me talk their heads off with ideas ALL the time…
Thank you Grandmother, LaQuette and Aunt Kim..:) Speaking of grandmothers….I don’t know where I would be without my grandmother! She has been my EVERYTHING since day 1! Next, I want to shoutout my friends Kimbrough, Vonda, Ericka, Heather, Ashley and Lyn for always being a sound board for personal and business things.. It’s a blessing to have genuine friends who pray with me, cheer for me and want to see me succeed. I am so blessed to have them in my life!
