Meet The Most Reverend Dr. A.louise Bonaparte | Entrepreneur/Archbishop/Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with The Most Reverend Dr. A.louise Bonaparte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Most Reverend Dr. A.Louise, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Born and raised in the vibrant cultural mosaic of Brooklyn, New York, my identity and intellectual ethos are deeply rooted in a lineage of extraordinary individuals whose lives and achievements have profoundly shaped my worldview. My ancestry is a testament to resilience, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, with each generation contributing to a legacy that transcends time and circumstance. Standing on the shoulders of these giants, I am the product of a heritage that values education, service, and the audacity to challenge societal limitations.
My great-great-great-grandfather, Reverend George Liele, holds a place of singular importance in American history as the first ordained African American preacher in the United States. His pioneering work in the late 18th century laid the foundation for the Black church, a cornerstone of African American culture and resistance. His commitment to faith and community service instilled in me an understanding of the transformative power of spiritual leadership and the importance of using one’s voice to uplift others.
Equally influential is my great-grandmother, Reverend Amanda Berry Smith, whose indomitable courage and eloquence made her the first African American woman to lead international crusades. Her ability to transcend racial and gender barriers in a world that sought to marginalize her speaks to the power of resilience and the importance of breaking through societal constraints. Her legacy has instilled in me a profound respect for the intersection of faith and activism, as well as the necessity of global engagement in the pursuit of justice.
In the realm of intellectual and professional achievement, my great-aunt, Dr. Susan McKinney Steward, stands as a beacon of excellence. As one of the first African American women to earn a medical degree in the United States, she shattered ceilings with her intellect and dedication. Her pioneering work in medicine not only advanced the field but also challenged the prevailing prejudices of her time. Her legacy has imbued me with a deep appreciation for the sciences and a commitment to using knowledge as a tool for societal transformation.
My maternal grandfather, a preacher, scholar, professor, and New York State judge, exemplified the harmonious integration of faith, education, and justice. His multifaceted career demonstrated the power of intellectual rigor and moral integrity in shaping a more equitable society. From him, I learned the importance of critical thinking, the value of education, and the role of the judiciary in safeguarding justice.
Equally pivotal was the influence of my maternal grandmother, The Reverend Amanda H.Williams-Crawley, trailblazing entrepreneur who became our family’s first multimillionaire. Her acumen and determination in the business world taught me the importance of economic independence and the transformative potential of entrepreneurship. Her success underscored the value of innovation and strategic thinking, principles that continue to guide my professional endeavors.
My mother, Dr. Eloisa Crawley-Bonaparte , the first African American woman to be consecrated as an Archbishop in the Protestant faith, embodies the intersection of spiritual leadership, education, and service. Her distinguished career as a Vietnam War hero and educator further exemplifies her commitment to serving others and breaking barriers. Her life has instilled in me a profound sense of duty, a commitment to excellence, and the courage to lead with integrity.
Raised in a strict Christian home where education and excellence were emphasized, I was nurtured in an environment that valued discipline, intellectual curiosity, and moral fortitude. This upbringing has profoundly shaped my character, instilling in me a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a commitment to using my talents for the betterment of society. The emphasis on education as a transformative force has driven my academic pursuits, while the moral and ethical framework of my upbringing has guided my personal and professional decisions.
In synthesizing these influences, I have come to understand my identity as a confluence of faith, intellect, and service. My heritage is not merely a historical narrative but a living legacy that continues to inspire and challenge me to strive for excellence, to break barriers, and to contribute meaningfully to the world. As a scholar, I am deeply committed to honoring this legacy by advancing knowledge, fostering equity, and using my voice to advocate for justice and innovation.

However, our faith and a relentless focus on innovation have been our guiding lights. We’ve overcome obstacles by staying adaptable, investing in our people, and maintaining a clear vision of our purpose. One of the greatest lessons we’ve learned is the importance of resilience and the power of unity—whether within our family, our team, or the communities we serve.
