We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiambe Kuykendall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiambe, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My grandmothers were everything to me. They were both great in the kitchen in their own way. One was a soul food Sunday cook and the other was a world traveled entertainer. They both told me always have a little something in the refrigerator if someone stops by. In 2020 I bought my first home in the height of the pandemic. Being home was all we could do. I had my closest friends and family over as much as I could and I practiced my charcuterie board making on them. One day one of them simply said, you know you could sell these….and that’s what birthed TKC!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a full time Hematology/Oncology Nurse Manager that used Charcuterie as a way to release stress in the height of the pandemic. I am a single mom of an amazing daughter that I have to show dreams can become reality. She has had a front row seat seeing me accomplish what seemed impossible. Opening TK Charcuterie in 2020 with only my resources on hand was not easy but all the sacrifice has been worth it for sure. Faith and love are what make up the foundation my business was built upon. My faith and the love I pour into each unique creation is how I have sustained.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My girlfriends and I are creatures of habit so we love going to hidden jewels in the city. We love going where everybody knows your name! It’s just about us being together, strong cocktails or great bottles of wine are all we need and lots of laughs. I will say one of our absolute favorite places is Armando’s on a Thursday night…if you know you know!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my daughter Kaitlyn who is my greatest inspiration and a budding entrepreneur herself.
