We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going? There were soooooo many days that I wanted to give up. I wanted to pull my hair out and didn’t know how I was going to make it being a single mother of 4 boys! Every day it was new experience. One day my oldest son school is calling, then the next one and another one. It’s like they rotated the days of causing havoc in school and I was the only parent in the picture. No one else around. I had to balance a JOB, school, sports, kids, home and life. I cried many days and nights on my knees asking for strength and patience. I understood that no matter what I couldn’t give up on myself or them because if I did my boys wouldn’t have anyone.
I realized that I needed to be thankful for each one of those days and future days to come. They were life lessons that I needed to experience in order to achieve my future endeavors. Every day I open my eyes I give Thanks for allowing me to see another day! I began giving thanks for everyone and everything in my life no matter how small or big, no matter the situation or challenge I’m grateful.
As entrepreneur my mindset remains the same. I am grateful for every aspect of my business. The long days and nights, the client calls, the process and systems, the networking it doesn’t matter I don’t give up. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it! I speak the positive in my life with affirmations. Every day I make it a point to correct myself with the words that follow after I AM. While speaking to clients and I notice they are frustrated or even a general conversation, I make them aware of also speaking their words into existence over life and business! No reason to give up it is happening for you! Just keep ya head up! Entrepreneurship takes self-discipline, self-motivation and self-determination. You have to believe in yourself, be confident and know that you can achieve it!!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Taxes aren’t temporary and neither should your tax preparer. I am Tiffany Kidd, the owner of Kidd Consulting Services. We provide tax services, bookkeeping, business startups, business credit and funding for small business owners throughout the whole year. Mindset is very critical when building a stable business foundation. It’s important that we unlearn and relearn what is important to us.
I understand that my purpose is to Educate, Empower and Enlighten other small business owner on tax laws, financial resources, creating a stable business foundation, mindset and other general business questions. In my 14 plus years of providing tax services, I realized there was lack of knowledge when it comes to operating and maintaining a stable business. Business owners are great at making money but lack knowledge or doesn’t have the time for back office management. So therefore, that part of the business lacks information. Once it’s financially time to elevate that is when a client will reach out to get things organized and on track. So, when asked what is your current income or expenses, annual forms should be filed, paying estimated taxes, how to obtain and use business credit etc. they don’t know. Being an entrepreneur comes with positives and negatives (I don’t think anything is negative you just have to learn a lesson) Most importantly make sure you love doing it. It’s not supposed to feel like work. It’s an inner passion/drive that will flow through your body. You have to visualize it, touch it, feel it as if it has already happened so that you can manifest it into reality. Don’t worry about the financial gain because it will come if you are doing your part. I’ve learned that you are your brand. When people get to know you, then they will get to know what you represent!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A relaxing day in Houston. We would start off with breakfast/brunch at Mo Betta Brews, Enjoy a nice vegan breakfast with some charcoal mimosas. Once our bellies are just right we would go to our local farmers market. While, there we will stop at every single booth to listen to the story of other small business owners and their dreams and goals. Support them by purchasing their products for me to try so that I can share my experience with others. Next, full body massages with some essential oils and sage for an hour. Its about unwinding and relaxing. Stress free zone. From there we will will grab our favorite bottle of wine and to the paint and sip for a few hours. This time is therapeutic and relaxing. Listening to music, laughing and giggling while creating art. Once we wrap it up there we are ready to freshen up so that we can head to open mic to listen to poetry and live bands. Once we wrap it up at that location it is the end of the night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Im grateful and dedicate my shoutout to my “NANA”. She was the true definition of a phenomenal woman. As a young child she showed me the dedication and commitment that it takes to be a influential voice in the community.
A lot of people have come across my path during my journey and I appreciate everyone for their season, reason and their lifetime relationship.
