We had the good fortune of connecting with Trinisha Jackson, RID and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trinisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There’s nothing like having a talent and not being able to fully use it. While I’ve always been connected to the design industry and successful in my roles, I felt limited. My jobs were a great part of my journey, but it wasn’t what I was called to do. Once I realized that, TJDesign Interiors was born!

What should our readers know about your business?
I don’t think it’s ever easy to go into business for yourself. It takes more work than you can imagine and challenges will always present itself. The key is staying genuine, making sure you and your team are not just representing your brand, but improving it.

The more people you work with, the more you learn about how to do business. If you haven’t messed up, you haven’t grown.

My background was really a good foundation for me. I have a Masters in Architecture and I’m a Registered Interior Designer. My clients appreciate that, but they seem more intrigued by my personality, lol! Some say I’m extra. I say, I’m passionate.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is now boasting with eclectic and creative restaurants and bars. I really can’t pick just one. Bungalow, Frnds for drinks, Sunrise House, Muse….there are plenty of options.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe in surrounding yourself with good people; those who are inspiring, supportive, go-getters, thought provokers, and even friends that check your reality. That’s a small group for me and they know who they are!
