We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Guevara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I come from a very humble home in a tiny town called Eagle Pass Texas. My ultimate dream as a child was to be a model but my parents wouldn’t allow it.
My upbringing was rough because my parents were extremely strict and over all very toxic so I fled town the very first opportunity I got.
I moved to Houston Texas in 20015 and that’s when my journey really started.
I took on a side job giving people rides all over Houston. That is where I met a lot of different people from all over the world and it made me realize life was so much more than what I thought it was.
It felt like I could truly be myself out here so I decided to follow my dream of being a model. I started posting consistently on social media and eventually got a few gigs modeling for photographers in Houston along with collaborations with jewelry and makeup brands.
The thought of being a business owner had always been in the back of my mind but after doing a little bit of modeling and influencer gigs it clicked!
I knew the part of the business that makes a company successful I just needed a product.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Namek is an online athletic apparel store that offers top quality for women sizes S-XL. We focus on creating leggings and sport tops that accentuates our curves and divert attention from areas we are most conscious about like the famous “camel toe”. Our leggings do not have a middle seam which prevents the crease from forming.
My Son helped me pick the name NAMEK which comes from a planet in the Dragon Ball Z series. I wanted something easy to pronounce and unique to be easily remembered.
I wrote down a list of products for my business idea like, coffee mugs, phone cases, and even heated eyelash curlers. Nothing really excited me more than workout clothes because I’m an active gym rat myself.
Once the name and products were brainstormed, I got myself a white cardboard poster and started pinning ideas.
I pinned the type of leggings I wanted to push out my first campaign and the models I wanted to collaborate with.
I had made friends with local photographers when I would model and everything turned out just as I had planned it.
The only regret I have is not starting sooner!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them for a tour around Houston with my friends at Joyride. They offer over 5 different tours around Houston. One of my favorites is the Wine tour.
Next I’d take them to eat some seafood because Houston has the best and fresh seafood. My favorite spots are The crawfish pot, La Ostioneria Michuacan, and Mambos seafood.
Any sports event like NBA, Baseball, or football games.
Lastly, I’ve personally never been to but would like to scratch it off my bucket list, the aquarium down town. I’ve always wanted to ride the Ferris wheel!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my husband who truly was the only one who believed and encouraged me to follow my dreams.
