We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Boone-Wechie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vivian, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
When Virtuous Women Houston, Empowerment Group was founded in 2018, it was a solution to a great problem. Women supporting women, women being empowered to do all they are designed to do. In the midst of discussions was where the idea was born. My team and I were discussing what a perfect empowerment group should be, look like, and support, when we asked the question, why can’t we do this? Thus the group was formed, and through the pandemic, challenges, and unprecedented times, has pivoted to virtual conferences, training, and workshops, which has kept us strong, viable, and thriving.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a retired banker I took on a different career of training, mentoring, and coaching women. This led me to starting my business The Career Image Business Management, & Consulting. I enjoyed working my business so when the opportunity arose to launch Virtuous Women Houston, Empowerment Group, it just made sense, the two fit together flawlessly. My desire is to equip women to handle their finances effectively, advance in their careers, and work together to achieve goals, dreams, aspirations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a 35 plus year Houstonian, raised in the Midwest, I would definitely take them to the Space Center Houston. Hang out in Galveston to sight-see, eat some delicious food, and just stop on the way back to enjoy the Kemah boardwalk. Take them to a concert at the Cynthia Woods Pavillion, grab drinks after. And shopping! From the Galleria to San Marcos outlets is a must!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize my Team, especially my Event Coordinator, Miss Eddriel Young. She is my right hand, and supports the vision of Virtuous Women Houston. She consistently shows up, supports, and loves empowering women. In addition, we would not be who we are without the support of one of my best friends, Mrs. Janie Prycer, RIP. Janie was the push behind the formation of the group. Being we are both women’s advocates, she saw the passion, and helped me to continue when I felt defeated at times, this group has so many people who have supported our mission unweaveringly.
