Through our work we have been constantly amazed at the incredible things people in every neighborhood are working on. What’s even more exciting is that they all have different stories, backgrounds, strengths and weaknesses. That there isn’t a single formula for success means that everyone can take their unique set of strengths and characteristics and turn it into a success story. We recently reached out to some folks we admire and asked them what characteristics they feel are responsible for their success.

I think the most important factor behind my success is the perseverance or constancy to believe in your capabilities and not take down when the thing´s going hard. When the thing is turning down, that moment is key, you need to think cold, you don`t have to be guided by feelings and you need to have patience. All bussiness, brand or succed is not achieve in short time, you have to remember that, all the way matters even the more little detail is a sign to achieve your success. When you achieve the success and you look back, you see that all the things have a meaning in your trajectory even the mistakes or failures. Remember that either you win or you learn but you never lose Read more>>

I believe the most important factor for me behind my podcast is passion and consistency. I enjoying doing this podcast every week. It’s been said if you love what you do then it’ll never be considered work. I have a passion for meeting new people and getting to know them. If others can see the passion and love i put into what i do then they’ll enjoy it more as much as i do. I always wanna be consistent with my work whether its putting out an episode, having a special guest on or keeping up with the social media, If you are consistent then more and more people will gravitate towards you and what you have to offer. My grandmother (Momo Lena) has always been a huge inspiration to me and the reason why a career in education and social justice was always on my radar. My grandmother (a domestic worker) with no formal education demanded I take every opportunity to learn in different environments and from different perspectives. From childhood I saw my grandmother work for and interact with many people doing domestic work in St. Martin and Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. Walking 5 or more miles with her in the smoldering heat to her jobs in the summer as a child has always been a motivation to ensure equitable resources and opportunities are readily available for individuals who look like me. The most important fact behind my success and the success of my brand is summed up in the word integrity. I pride myself on making sure that I am being consistent in having a good character of integrity whether I’m conducting something for my business or if I’m in my home with friends because integrity builds trust and if a person trusts you they’ll support you. I’ve always said that I want to be the product of my business and the material that I put out to my audience so I know that entails having a consistent behavior of great integrity at all times meaning that I will not present myself to my audience one way and then be another way when I’m not in the presence of my audience. The most important factor behind my success/success of my brand is God’s WILL, GRACE, and MERCY for me. I was sexually abused by who and what I call “a silent predator” my father from age 4-16. Everything I could and should have learned throughout a normal childhood was taken away from me. The remnants of the sexual abuse led to a drug overdose, admit into a mental health facility, being bullied at school and on the school bus, grades so bad no one could foresee me graduating high school nevertheless a future nursing or any career for that matter. BUT GOD!!!! Read more>>

The most important thing to me regarding my success is staying genuine and humble. I take pride in showing the realistic side of my life. I show the struggles I have as well as the success. The whole goal of my brand is helping people. I find so often people only show the perfect finish or all the success they have and forget that it is the overcoming failures that actually inspires people. I like to tell my story of surviving cancer to show other people going through an illness that you can come out on the other side and live a great life. My books and courses are all designed to help people, not just me showing how great I am. I believe my down to earth approach has allowed me to reach more people as well as allow people to feel they have a connection to myself and my brand. My goal was and always will be using whatever I have to motivate others to live the best versions of themselves and define their own strength in life. Read more>>
