That my story and my voice was my own. One thing I believe people don’t realize about “dream chasing” is that you can lose yourself and who you are in the process. It’s so competitive being an artist and a lot of it is luck and ego. We tend to let egos get in the way and when that happens we start comparing ourselves to those who do what we do but are at a higher level. A level we aspire to be. I believe some of us tend to try and do what the ones ahead of us have done to try and secure that same seat. But your seat is yours only and you have to figure out how to get there and stay there. Along the way one of the challenges is remaining true during those down times. Those walks through the valley. The walk to being a successful artist is filled with people who have given up and lost sight of why they do it. Is it for the money? Is it for the love? Is it for the fame? This question actually directs just about every decision I make and even how I react to situations that come up in life, especially with other people. At the end of the day, it’s going to be how people remember you that endures. For me, perhaps because I have children, I just want people to remember me as someone who spent their life trying to become their personal best and trying to help others do the same.
