Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

My whole life I’ve been a creator. I’ve always thrived in art classes and decided to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts. I feel like I’m able to get my creative “fix” by doing different types of photo sessions (seniors, weddings, babies, families etc) and every day is a little different- I’m never bored! It all started when I was younger, I started dancing and I’ve noticed the creativity in my dances. It would be a mix of ballet, jazz, and my favorite modern. It’s me putting together sold-out productions full of singing, dancing, spoken word, flags, and more. I will bring in popcorn, sweets, food, and jewelry vendors to hype up the event. Read more>>

For a long time, I did not know what I wanted to do in life. I was between random jobs and in college for my basic Associates degree. One of my best friends asked me “what would you do in life for free?” The only answer I had was FEED people! I knew right then and there I was going to be a chef!
