We had the good fortune of connecting with Shea Donaldson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Back in 2021, I started my business, Shea Morgan Photography. I knew I had loved photography since the first day I had picked up a camera. I started my business because I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and to have a business of my own. I was immediately captivated by the joy, confidence, and smiles that I had given to my clients by capturing their best self. I am always striving to capture the happiness of others and to give them memories to hold onto for a lifetime.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of how much myself and my business have grown and succeeded at such a young age. At the age of 17, I have started building a brand for myself and am almost booked for the rest of Spring. I am so grateful to be so busy. Up to this point in my career, it has been challenging to say the least. Often times people tend to underestimate me because of my age, but my work speaks for myself. Age is just a number and should never define a persons business, knowledge, success, or work ethic. I am constantly learning and working to better myself, my brand, and my art. Shea Morgan Photography strives to make people see themselves the way everyone else sees them-beautiful and important.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places that I’ve loved to go as kid is the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. It’s such a beautiful place to hangout and explore during the day. Another family favorite of mine is watching the Houston Astros play at Minute Maid park. As a girl who grew up in an Italian family, George’s Pasteria and North Italia are two favorites of mine. Along with the best steak place I have ever been to, Papa Brothers Steakhouse. For a little bit of daytime fun, a nice view, and every culture of food-POST Houston is the place to go. I spent hours there one afternoon shopping, eating all types of food, and taking pictures on the rooftop with a Houston skyline view.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout learning and growing in my business, I have been blessed with the greatest and most uplifting mentor, Kya Howe. Kya Howe also owns her own photography and graphic design business, Kya Reign Creative. Kya has taught and guided me throughout the past few years with photography and the business side of it.
