We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliyah Eshe’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliyah Eshe’, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There are so many talented musicians and performers in Houston. I think one of the most important factors of my behind my success and my brand is sticking to my craft and staying true to myself. I think it’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else may be doing, but you loose yourself that way. My goal is for the audience to feel me — I mean really feel me. My emotions or connections to the songs and lyrics. I want my brand to be known as someone who creates an atmosphere to truly vibe and create a memorable experience for the listeners.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started singing as a small child. My father is the spark of my love for music. When my parents were in the military my dad would bribe me to sing for his friends on base with tubes of mini M&Ms. From there I’ve sang in many capacities… church, college, festival etc. Today I sing locally at many Houston lounges, restaurants and event spaces. Nothing in life comes easy, but I do believe the connections and support I’ve gain throughout my time have put my in a position to succeed. The challenge comes when you feel stagnant. My goal is to have my voice heard as much as possible. Currently, I’m trying to piece songs together for my solo project. Trying to figure out how to showcase yourself to the world can be difficult but so exciting. I’ve learned that when you’re truly passionate about something it gives you the momentum you need to reach any goal. Ive also learned that Nuevo truly heals the soul. I love to see the smiles on the audiences face, then singing along to their favorite hits… it’s just that special feeling that makes you forget about everything else going on in the world. I want the world to know that life can be hard … unexpected but we all have that song we can pull to express ourselves . My brand is just that. My performances are moments, memories.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a Southside girl ! Some of my favorite Houston spots to eat are Vail’s Brother’s, Triple I’d and Skeets BBQ, Mikki’s Cafe’, City Cellars, Hebert’s and Tornado Taco (shoutout to Mo City).

If I’m out on the town I am for sure stopping my Southside Sporting Club, Upper Kirby Bistro, Chapman and Kirby and more.

Houston is full of fun and so many options. It’s March currently so the Rodeo is always a great time. I also truly enjoy all the festivals and community events the city as to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my grandmothers Vera & Louise “Honey”
