We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Through both Hair & Beauty by Nikki L and Radiant Society Studios, my purpose has always been bigger than beauty. I believe beauty is one of the ways people reconnect with their confidence, their identity, and sometimes even their healing.

Behind the chair, I help women feel seen, cared for, and beautiful during every season of life. Whether it is a color transformation, extensions, a scalp treatment, or simply creating a safe space for someone to sit, breathe, and be poured into, my work is about restoring confidence from the inside out. Hair is personal, and I never take for granted the trust people place in me.

With Radiant Society Studios, my impact has expanded beyond my own chair. Radiant was created to be a luxury salon and spa suite community, but also a beauty business incubator for independent professionals. My heart is to give other beauty and wellness entrepreneurs a space where they can grow, build credibility, collaborate, and feel supported instead of feeling isolated. I wanted to create something different from the typical salon suite environment — a place rooted in community, empowerment, professionalism, and “collaboration over competition.”

I believe when one woman grows, heals, and becomes more confident, it affects her family, her clients, her business, and her community. Radiant Society Studios allows me to help other professionals build their dreams while also creating a one-stop beauty and wellness destination for Houston.

My businesses help the community by creating opportunities, building confidence, supporting entrepreneurship, and reminding people that beauty is not just about how you look — it is about how you feel, how you show up, and how you shine in the world.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey into business has been anything but easy, but I truly believe it has all been purposeful.

I started in the beauty industry behind the chair with Hair & Beauty by Nikki L, and that part of my work will always be personal to me. Hair gave me a way to use my creativity, connect with women, build confidence, and create a life for myself and my family. I never saw it as “just hair.” I saw it as a way to make people feel seen, beautiful, and cared for. That foundation is what eventually led me into a bigger vision with Radiant Society Studios.

Radiant Society Studios was born from both a dream and a very challenging season of my life. The previous owner of the salon was pivotal in me stepping into ownership, and at the time, I truly believed we were building something together. I had very little to my name, but I had faith, work ethic, and a promise that something meaningful could be created. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do was let go of the relationship connected to that original dream and accept that the vision was now mine to carry in a different way.

That transition taught me so much about business, leadership, loyalty, boundaries, and trusting God even when the picture does not look the way you thought it would. There were decisions I had to make that not everyone understood. I had to learn that sometimes people judge you by the result without knowing the circumstances, the pressure, the responsibility, or the sacrifices behind the scenes. That has been painful, but it has also made me stronger.

I have had to grow in real time. I have learned about entrepreneurship, managing finances, customer service, discipline, leadership, and what it really takes to keep showing up when you are tired, overwhelmed, or misunderstood. I have also had to learn not to take everything personally — not the gossip, not the criticism, not the character attacks, and not the opinions of people who do not know the full story.

Even with a supportive family, there are parts of this journey I have had to walk alone. That is one of the hardest truths about entrepreneurship. You can have people who love you, but the weight of the decisions, the responsibility, and the vision often sits on your shoulders. I have cried, prayed, questioned myself, and still had to get up the next day and lead.

What sets Radiant Society Studios apart is that it was not built just to be a salon. It was built to be a community. It is a luxury salon and spa suite collective, but it is also a place where beauty and wellness professionals can grow, feel supported, and build their own businesses with pride. My heart is to create a space where people collaborate instead of compete, where independent professionals feel seen, and where clients can experience beauty, wellness, and care all in one place.

What I am most proud of is that I did not quit. I kept going through the hard parts, the uncertainty, the rebuilding, and the lessons. I am proud that both Hair & Beauty by Nikki L and Radiant Society Studios are rooted in purpose, faith, beauty, healing, and empowerment.

What I want the world to know is that my story is not perfect, but it is real. I am still growing, still learning, and still becoming. I believe God placed this vision in my hands for a reason, and my responsibility is to respect it, protect it, and keep building it with gratitude. My brand is not just about beauty — it is about resilience, community, transformation, and creating something that helps other people shine too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston for a week, I would want them to experience the city the way I love it — relaxed, soulful, a little outdoorsy, full of good food, good music, and real connection.

I’m a third-generation Houstonian, so Houston is home for me. What I love about this city is that it has so many different layers. You can have a beautiful brunch, sit on a patio with a cocktail, walk through a park, listen to live music, find an amazing small business, or end up having the best conversation at a coffee shop. Houston has culture, flavor, art, and soul.

I would definitely start in the Heights and surrounding areas because that is where so much of my life and business are rooted. I love supporting local businesses, so we would probably grab Mexican food at La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, stop by Angela’s Oven, check out places like Drip Job, and support cute local spots like Jane and the Lion. I love places that feel personal, creative, and connected to the community.

I also love a good patio, outdoor lounge, or café, so we would definitely spend time finding places where we can sit outside, have a drink, eat something good, and just enjoy the moment. Houston has so many restaurants, patio bars, coffee shops, and hidden gems that make it easy to create a full day without overplanning.

For nightlife, live music is a must. I would take them somewhere like Doc’s Jazz Lounge because I love the atmosphere there. It feels grown, intimate, soulful, and fun. I love places where you can actually enjoy the music, connect with the people you’re with, and be present.

I would also take them to some of the pop-ups and markets around Houston. That is one of my favorite ways to support small businesses, discover new brands, meet creative people, and feel the heartbeat of the city. Houston has so many talented makers, artists, food vendors, beauty brands, and entrepreneurs, and I love being around that energy.

Of course, I would also want them to experience the beauty and wellness side of Houston, so I would bring them by Radiant Society Studios. That space is such a big part of my heart. It is not just a salon and spa suite community — it is a place where people come to feel beautiful, supported, cared for, and empowered.

A perfect week would include patio dinners, margaritas, coffee shops, live music, pop-up markets, small-business shopping, a little self-care, walking through the city, and just enjoying good people. Houston is one of those cities where the best moments are not always overplanned. Sometimes the best time comes from finding a good patio, listening to good music, eating something amazing, and being surrounded by genuine people.

That is the Houston I love — warm, creative, soulful, diverse, supportive, and full of hidden gems.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, there are so many people who deserve credit in my story because I know I did not get here by myself.

First, I have to give all honor to God. My journey has not been easy, but my faith has carried me through seasons where I did not know how I was going to make it. There were moments when I felt tired, uncertain, and even scared, but I kept feeling like God was still calling me to keep going, keep building, and keep believing that there was purpose in all of it.

I also want to give credit to my children and my family. Being a mother has been one of my biggest motivations. I became a mom young, and so much of my drive came from wanting to create a better life, not only for myself, but for my children and now my grandchildren. They have watched me work hard, start over, rebuild, and keep pushing even when things were not perfect.

I would also love to shout out my father, Robert Lopez. Before he passed, he encouraged me to follow my passion, and that is part of what led me into the beauty industry. Becoming a hairstylist changed my life. It gave me purpose, independence, creativity, and a way to connect with people in a very personal way.

And of course, I have to shout out every client who has ever sat in my chair, trusted me with their hair, shared their life with me, referred someone to me, or supported Hair & Beauty by Nikki L. My clients have been such a huge part of my growth. They have allowed me to build a career doing something I truly love.

I also want to recognize the women and beauty professionals who are part of Radiant Society Studios. Building Radiant has taught me so much about leadership, community, resilience, and the importance of having the right people around you. My vision has always been to create a space where women and beauty professionals feel supported, seen, and empowered to grow their own businesses.

So my shoutout is really to God, my family, my clients, and my community. They are all part of why I keep going. My story is not just about building a salon or a business. It is about faith, purpose, healing, legacy, and creating something that can pour back into other people.
