We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcos Arredondo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcos, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Initially I would have never thought to enter this industry, but a good military brother of mine told me, “a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” It was a compliment. Far from letting it deter my path, some entrepreneurs swear that being a jack of all trades brings benefits, but for me this was gospel and it resonated with me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m very meticulous, attention to detail has always been one of my strongest attributes, definitely useful when you have a razor sharp straight blade to someone’s neck. I think my clients would agree. Professionally I’ve only been barbering 1yr and 7mnths, my first day in a barbershop was a Friday, probably one of the most hectic days for a barber, I was thrown to the wolves and oddly enough became one, high stress situations have always been my calm in a storm , since serving as a scout(19D) in 2006(operation enduring freedom) high stress is where I thrive where others breakdown I’m focused. So to answer “was it easy?” Nothing worth having ever comes easy , but for me the hardest part of my life has passed . Along the way I learned to ask as many questions as possible and if I didn’t know the answer I would learn. What I want the world to know about my Brand is that I am the brand, I’m a bearded soldier of god who protects, loves and provides the service you didn’t know you deserved.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First thing first we have to stop at Taconazo on Patton and Fulton for their fajita quesadillas and don’t forget the green sauce, I’m not much of a drinker so we’d definitely stop at juiceland then off to ” Joint Custody “2215 cohn streets in the heights to meet the owner Rob Sosa who had been a great friend of mine for years now and always knows what’s going on in the area from food to art galleries.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I have to thank the man upstairs who gives me grace and strength to conquer all obstacles laid in front of me, my daughter Maddie and girlfriend Kimberly Brown who keep me motivated and focused on my path. My grandfather Marcos ( who I’m named after) retired army vet , my mother Rebecca who has built me into the man I am today. My good friends Rob Sosa, Dalton Martin,Lu Ochoa and last but not least my brothers in arms, the hard hitters of B-Troop 1-10 cavalry division 4th ID.
