We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Kilburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My son came to me wanting to to open a business, I told him if we could build a Himalayan salt cave, have a spa with Massage we should do it because there was nothing like this in the area.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Serenity Salt Spa was born from a passion for helping people improve their health and well-being naturally. As a small, family/Veteran owned business in Montgomery, Texas, our mission is to provide a peaceful space where people can relax, heal, and invest in their overall wellness.

What sets us apart is that we are more than just a spa. We have a Himalayan salt cave that seat seven comfortably and we also do massages in there.. We focus on holistic wellness through services such as halotherapy (salt therapy), Halo-Red light therapy, massage therapy, facials, and wellness memberships designed to help our clients feel their best both physically and mentally. We take pride in educating our community about the many benefits of salt therapy and providing personalized care that makes every client feel valued and supported.

Like many small business owners, the journey has not been easy. Building awareness around a unique wellness service like halotherapy has required persistence, creativity, and a lot of faith. One of our biggest challenges has been educating people about what we do and how these therapies can benefit their lives. We’ve overcome those challenges by focusing on relationships, listening to our clients, continually learning, and staying committed to our vision.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes consistency, patience, and a genuine desire to serve others. Every challenge has taught me something valuable about business, leadership, and the importance of staying true to our purpose.

What we are most proud of is creating a welcoming environment where people can take a break from the stresses of everyday life and focus on their health. Whether someone comes to us for relaxation, respiratory support, pain management, stress relief, or simply a moment of peace, we strive to make a positive impact on their wellness journey.

We want the world to know that Serenity Salt Spa is built on heart, passion, and a commitment to helping people live healthier, happier lives. We are not just providing services—we are creating a community centered around wellness, healing, and self-care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I would want them to experience the perfect blend of relaxation, small-town charm, nature, and local Texas hospitality that makes Montgomery and the Lake Conroe area so special.

We would start the trip with a relaxing session at Serenity Salt Spa, enjoying the salt cave, Halo-Red therapy, and a massage to help them unwind from their travels.

One day would be spent exploring historic downtown Montgomery, known as the birthplace of the Texas flag. We’d stroll through the local shops, antique stores, and boutiques while enjoying the charm and history of one of Texas’ oldest towns.

Another day would be dedicated to Lake Conroe. We’d spend time on the water, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and watch one of the famous Texas sunsets over the lake. The lake offers everything from boating and fishing to waterfront dining and live music.

We would also visit The Woodlands, one of the area’s most vibrant destinations. We’d walk along The Woodlands Waterway, explore Market Street, enjoy shopping, outdoor concerts, and dine at some of the area’s outstanding restaurants.

Throughout the week, we’d enjoy local restaurants, coffee shops, and gathering places where visitors can experience genuine Texas hospitality. Whether it’s waterfront dining on Lake Conroe, a casual brunch with friends, or live music in the evening, there is always something to enjoy.

What I love most about this area is that it offers something for everyone. You can spend the morning enjoying nature, the afternoon shopping or exploring local businesses, and the evening relaxing by the water. The people are welcoming, the pace is comfortable, and there is a strong sense of community.

The Montgomery and Lake Conroe area may not always make the national travel lists, but that’s part of its charm. It’s a place where visitors can slow down, connect with people, enjoy beautiful surroundings, and leave feeling refreshed and recharged.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
as it was my son‘s idea to have a business. It was my idea to do Serenity Salt Spa hence Himalayan salt. We pretty much built it from the ground up ourselves. My brother came down from Indiana to help us, and my husband continues to be our maintenance man. My girls were a huge support system.
