We had the good fortune of connecting with ZaNaria Bowens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ZaNaria, what do you attribute your success to?
My foundation to success begins with my commitment to preparation. As a journalist, host, and all-around woman in media, I have not only achieved personal success by achieving goals listed on my refrigerator, but I have also become a source of inspiration for countless young women and girls bridging communities through the sharing of their stories.
One of the cornerstones of my success has been my unwavering commitment to preparation. I understand that success in the media industry requires constant self-improvement and dedication to honing one’s skills. Whether it’s researching extensively for an investigative report, rehearsing for a live broadcast, or staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends. I am ready for any challenge that comes my way. This commitment to excellence not only elevates my work but also sets a high standard for aspiring journalists and hosts to emulate.
Beyond my achievements, I have learned nurturing relationships is another key aspect of influence. In the realm of media, building meaningful connections is essential for both professional growth and community engagement. I aim to keep a genuine approach when interacting with my audience, peers, and interviewees allowing trust to grow, creating an environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their stories.
In conclusion, my journey as a journalist, host, and all-around woman in media is a compelling narrative of success driven by preparation, representation, truth-telling, and relationship-building. My dedication to excellence, commitment to diversity, and ability to connect with people have not only propelled me in unique ways but have also positioned me as a source of inspiration and a catalyst for positive voice in the media industry. If I am not leaving a positive impact, and inspiring and connecting communities through storytelling, what am I doing?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of establishing myself in the media industry through Zayangelitatv, a digital media platform while also constructing red carpet production, being the unique IT factor for events hosting red carpet interviews with guests, establishing an inviting atmosphere, and leaving guests with lasting impressions. I am very proud of executing the Black Girl Joy movement with Southern Black Girls and Women Consortium, and Meg The Stallion and scholarship in Houston, Texas for a Prairie View A&M University young women while representing women of color to be front center and on stage.
I am most excited to take everything that I’ve learned and create a larger production company. I think the hardest and best part is starting over when serving a role, and there comes a new time to redirect and expand.
The ultimate takeaway is that you create your OWN fire, and desire to dream and achieve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For those seeking to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant lifestyle that Houston has to offer, there’s a handful of experiences waiting to be explored. Get your grub on with a visit to the best dining restaurant Rouxpour, Mikoto Japanese restaurant, and Esther’s Cajun Soul Food, where a diverse range of flavors and cuisines await your palate. To enrich your cultural experience, make sure to pay a visit to The Museum of Fine Arts, a hub of artistic pieces that can inspire you. Anywhere I go I must continue to learn about my African culture, I love going to the Houston Museum of African American Culture and taking a walk down Almeda where there are countless black-owned businesses to support. If you’re traveling with little ones, consider a beach walk at Kemah, providing a refreshing escape near the shores of Galveston, Texas. For those seeking an intimate and enchanting evening, look no further than Zay’s Signature Creation, a business dedicated to helping you craft unforgettable moments. Elevate these experiences to the next level by trusting the skillful hands of HBVisuals for photography and videography services, ensuring that your cherished memories are captured for a lifetime. Wanting to end the night with new music and unforgettable vibes, then reach out to Houston DJs YamsG, and Tajah The DJ on Instagram to see where they are spinning for the night.
