We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Kizzee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charles, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I feel like the absolute single most important decision I’ve made for my journey was to pursue some type of higher education to better understand my industry and craft. That brief time gave me the chance to learn, grow, gain perspective, develop a work ethic, meet new people, gain respect for the various roles and professions in the industry and so much more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My primary art form revolves around music. I started out in groups and after pursuing a higher education, began to shift more into the songwriting/producing and even the business side of things. As I’ve grown, and as the industry has evolved into what it is today, I have embraced various roles along the way. This mindset isn’t uncommon if you’re acting as an independent, which I have been throughout my career. While I enjoy releasing my own albums and content, I do find great joy and pride in working with other artists on their projects and career. Whether songwriting, producing, consulting, artist development or whatever role needed, to be able to contribute to the elevation of an artist and their vision in an amazing experience.

Also over the past year, I myself have been reinventing my brand and overall direction. This has been truly exciting and very rewarding, as I have been able to collaborate with my brothers on this new direction. So it has been a real family affair.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The area is so vast and you can really find a lot to do depending on what you’re into. That being said, The Woodlands to Spring area is one I particularly like. You have Buca di Peppo, Gringos, Goode Co. Cantina and the list goes on. If the weather is nice, there is nothing like a good concert at the Pavilion. It’s such a great atmosphere. Then of course you can always enjoy a nice night out at the Rose Rooftop & Restaurant. I’m a movie goer, so I like Star Cinema Grill. You can’t really beat a good movie, food and drinks all in one place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to send a shoutout to Ms Ssugah, LC, my wife & daughters, Entellex, EZeekiel Aln, Marcell Cassanova, Christyle Trakz, Eugene Brooks, my groups (IV Luv, Soul Southern, All Verses Matter, LoFi Atmos), my Hospitality Team and just everyone that has invested and contributed an extended amount of time and energy. Nothing goes unnoticed or unappreciated.
