We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Kennard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be a remarkable individual whose life was dedicated to serving others, leading with integrity, and sharing his passion for Jesus Christ. For people to see my commitment to service was unparalleled. Whether it was volunteering in the local community, leading charitable initiatives, or simply lending a helping hand to those in need, I want to embodied the spirit of selflessness and compassion. I want my actions to speak volumes, reminding people of the power of kindness and the importance of giving back.
As a leader, I want to have vision, wisdom, and ability to inspire others to be truly extraordinary. As I guide students through challenging times, provide mentorship to colleagues, or spearhead innovative projects, I want to lead by example. My goal is to bring out the best in those around me.
But most importantly, my greatest desire, is that my faith in Jesus is the cornerstone of my life. I want to live with a passion for Christ that is evident in everything I do. I want people to see my interactions with others and witness the unwavering commitment to living out the principles of love, forgiveness, and grace. My faith is not just a belief system; it is a guiding light that illuminates my path and, hopefully, inspires others to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been in ministry for 25 years. Have reach 1000’s of students in the name of Jesus. I have preached in 3 different countries. Created dozen of summer camps, mission trips, and leadership programs. I have written articles and published a sports devotional book. During this time in ministry, my wife and I have raised 5 kids. Ministry isn’t easy, and it has so many ups and downs. I would have never thought I would be in front of people speaking. I was never the guy out front, and the thought of talking to a crowd was nerve wrecking.
But all throughout the Bible, the people God used often felt inadequate. That never stopped God! And it still doesn’t. Through the years, God has opened doors and showed me that my confidence is in Him and not in myself. Life has thrown plenty of curve balls, from taking a less paying job to seeking new jobs when nothing was in sight. God has remained faithful and always provided a way to take care of myself and my family.
Everyday is a opportunity to learn. Whether helping someone through sorrow or watching your kids have success. I have learn that you always need to put your trust and hope in Jesus. He is the only way i have been able to get through the good and hard times.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A night on the town would be all surrounded by what we would be eating. We would start at Jaunita’s in Alvin, TX and have the best breakfast tacos. Then we would enjoy some time of fellowship at my house while playing games. Not that I am great, but we always have a BLAST! Then, off to lunch at one of the top BBQ place in the nation, Killen’s BBQ. Enjoy some of the best brisket and cream corn. Next, would be a chance to swing the clubs at Top Golf, which is a fun environment. We would finish the day at dinner. There are a hand full of great Tex-Mex restaurants and finish it all off with Cold Stone Ice Cream.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so thankful for my wife. She has stood by my side faithfully for 24 years and done ministry beside me. Our five kids keep me humble and inspire me to continue to pour into the next generation. These are my biggest cheerleaders.
