Hi Jamelia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time, my perspective on work-life balance has evolved significantly as I’ve juggled the roles of a full-time mom and a loan officer. Initially, when I entered the workforce, my focus leaned heavily towards excelling in my career, often sacrificing personal time with my family. However, being a mother I needed to re-evaluate my priorities, highlighting the importance of quality time with my children. This shift prompted me to reassess and re-prioritize, striving for a healthier balance between my professional responsibilities and personal life. As I’ve navigated through the demands of both roles, I’ve learned to set boundaries between family time and working. Additionally, open communication with my clients which they are very understanding. Ultimately, my approach to work-life balance centers on prioritizing the well-being of my family while fulfilling my responsibilities as a loan officer, ensuring that I can cherish the moments spent with my children while still excelling in my career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey to becoming a successful loan officer was far from easy, marked by the challenges I encountered while pursuing the NMLS certification. Despite facing setbacks and needing multiple attempts to pass, I remained determined and dedicated countless hours to studying relentlessly. Finding the time amidst my busy schedule studying to become a loan officer and being a mother was a challenge in itself, but I persevered, exploring various study methods to retain the extensive information required.

One of the pivotal moments in my journey was finding a supportive company that not only offered training but also believed in nurturing my potential to excel in the field. Through their guidance and my unwavering commitment, I honed my skills and knowledge, gradually overcoming obstacles to reach where I am today. My journey serves as a testament to the importance of resilience, perseverance, and seeking out opportunities for growth.

I’m most proud of my ability to overcome challenges and continuously strive for excellence in my profession. My story is a testament to the power of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. I want the world to know that behind every success lies a journey filled with trials and triumphs, and it’s the lessons learned along the way that shape us into who we are. As a loan officer, I am dedicated to providing exceptional service, leveraging my experiences to guide and support my clients every step of the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The great thing about Houston is there is always something to do here. I would start our adventure with a delightful brunch at a trendy spot like “The Breakfast Klub”, where you can indulge in mouthwatering soul food dishes and catch up over delicious mimosas. After brunch, it’s time for some retail therapy! Head to The Galleria, Houston’s premier shopping destination, where we can shop until we drop.

As the day continues, why not add a bit of excitement? Head over Dave & Buster’s for some arcade fun! Who doesn’t like playing games and winning prizes while having a nice cocktail. After all the gaming excitement, treat yourselves to dinner at one of Houston’s finest restaurants, such as “Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen” or “The Warwick”, where we can indulge in delicious food and toast to our friendship.
