We had the good fortune of connecting with Cornelius Joe II and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cornelius, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Recipejoes looks to help our social media family to share great food at home in this growingly difficult economics climate. Learning how to cook at home, and also finding great deals when you go out to eat with unique food offerings is the way to make your dollar stretch further and longer. We think about recipes that are easy, but satisfying as well. We also meet with restaurant owners to share their story and offer food photography services as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me a part is that I truly care about people having good memories of good food. Thats how I picked up my camera and started working on food photography. Good food should tell a grand story, not just be a mediocre sentence. I’ve made a lot friends in the industry, and are still working on growing into a full-time business. One lesson I’m learning is don’t let the flame of your creativity whatever it may be get dim. Keep working on it, I have some good people around me who I got to witness start something from scratch and climb to high heights, so you can do the same.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Burgers – Peppered Pig for sure! Mexican- Rosie’s Cantina (my wife’s favorite)
Mix of everything- Char (shrimp and grits😋)
Italian- Amerigo (pasta is my kryptonite)
Toyota Field to see the Rocket City Trash Pandas play baseball.
Big Spring Park to bring all the awesome food we find and have a picnic and talk.
Monte Sano Park and see all panoramic view of Huntsville from the Tennessee River to Scottsboro.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandmother’s and my mom really set my foot on the path of cooking and analyzing food recipes. From made from scratch cakes, whole dinners, to homemade ice cream, I was blessed with amazing cooks. Justin Wilson (APT Television) had a cooking show that I watched on Saturday’s evenings when I was growing up. He was a huge influence on me as well. Cajun guy who told funny stories and make amazing food! I still go back and watch his show on YouTube.
