We had the good fortune of connecting with Ulisa Narvaez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ulisa, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life has taught me a lot of PATIENCE! I work as a full time paraprofessional, work part time at Pandora Jewelry and having my small business. I’ve also learned time management when it comes down to my orders. I learned to balance out a lot of things with my crazy work schedule, but I love it. The full schedule keeps me busy lol

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Creations by Uli started in July 2020. I remember I started off by making Spotify song frames, handwritten at that! I saved all of my money from my orders and bought my first cricut! Oh man, I was so excited and went crazy making decals lol. Throughout the years, I’ve made cups, decals, shadow boxes to now making shirts, flower bouquets, car freshies and so many other items. My favorite thing about my business would have to be all of my Houston themed items. Something about showing love to the city and everyone loving the items I make just feels right. I can’t wait to see where everything takes me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I love being home lol, but when I do go out… I love going to Midtown or Whiskey River North. Food wise, I love Pluckers the holy mac is chef’s kiss 🤌🏼 lol. Midtown I like going to Dogwood or Little Woodrow’s the vibes and music are really good. I love going to Whiskey River if I’m in the mood for some country music, definitely recommend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shout out to my family and friends, my boyfriend and in-laws, my customers and other small businesses! To my family and friends, thank you for always supporting my crazy ideas and being with me during pop up events or even sharing my business to your family and friends. To my boyfriend and in-laws, thank you all for showing up at pop up events I attend, sharing my business to everyone you know and as well supporting my crazy ideas lol. Both my family and in-laws push me to do better and I can’t thank them enough! To my customers, oh man I definitely can’t thank yall enough! You all are the reason I am where I feel like I need to be. Thank you all for the shares, likes and orders. You all are the best!  To all of the small businesses I’ve encountered, thank you!! I love working with you all and I can’t wait to make new projects with you all. I love how many new people I have met through my business!
