We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlon Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marlon, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I believe my music work is a powerful expression of unity, transcending cultural boundaries and belief systems. My compositions are an expression of emotions resonating deeply with the listener inspiring creativity and empathy while celebrating our shared humanity. By educating and connecting people through music, I strive to leave a lasting impact on communities worldwide, demonstrating the transformative potential of music as a universal language.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Music has been my unconditional companion through my entire life. It has been there for me during times of joy and sorrows. During a music composition process, there is a side of me that grows and expands my level of consciousness, I believe there is no other profession that will make you grow on that area, and the most interesting concept of this growing process is that it can not be logically explained. Conventional word, sequential, logical mental process are left for a later stage, at the moment of my creation words are just an audible frequency, and when words intervene at all, they are just a sound without meaning. As a artist I have made an immense amount of sacrifices to overcome and defeat obstacles in life, many of this obstacles includes tragedies that have caused much emotional pain, ironically, at the same time pain has somehow provided me with the will to continue. I had to learn that living the way we live, will always cause inevitable suffering on us as human beings. The path has been hard….. very hard…. however , I feel I am now “On different paths” as the title of my latest album suggests …..we as human beings, communities, and countries must change our belief systems and values that are just a created illusion by our thoughts, Only this way we will together travel “On different paths”……egoless….detaching from ideologies that cause separation among ourselves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is a vibrant city that offer many exiting places to visits. I will definitely take them to the Japanese garden at Hermann park, take the miniature train for a ride in the city. When time to eat something I will take him to the top restaurant in the city such as the Chi for Japanese cuisine, La lucha for fried chicken and oysters. Places that I consider a must to see are the Museum of natural science, the museum of fine arts and the space center.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My career in music has been significantly shaped by the unwavering support and mentorship of my father, philosopher, guitarist, and author Hadsy Simon. He always played his guitar with great passion and provided unconditional guidance during my entire career. His profound influence and wisdom served as testament to the importance of family values in nurturing the future or our children.
