We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Quintero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been attracted to the creative world wether it was dance, photography and now with makeup but the main reason was perspective. Perspective is not just something you can speak but I think it’s amazing to see everyones different point of view and their own way of expressing it. You’re able to create and share your ideas with many others and connect with them.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m proud to see how far I’ve come and excited to where I’m going in my career. I have always loved playing with makeup but never thought I’d be doing makeup as a professional. I began working with Too Faced Cosmetics about 4 years ago and I realized how much I enjoyed working and meeting new people everyday, being able to help them and lift them up when they weren’t feeling at their best. It hasn’t always been easy , I definitely held myself back from pursuing this because of what people may say or simply comparing myself. I learned that everyone has a different journey and we just have to embrace the process. I love what I do and my perspective of being a make-up artist to me goes beyond the outer beauty but a focus on inner beauty.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I both love coffee. I know I would take her to Tenfold, Blacksmiths, Cavo coffee shops for her to try. Some of my favorite spots to eat and drink is Bisou, The flying saucer, St. Arnold brewery, Postinos, Velvet taco the list is endless. I also enjoy Buffalo Bayou Park because of the nature and the city skyline, it’s such a great park to go have a walk or even enjoy a picnic.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my best friend, Melody-Joy. She has definitely been a blessing in my life! She has always been there for encouragement and voice of reason through my ups and downs.
