Meet Chelsia Mccoy | Book-writing consultant, editor, ghostwriter & publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsia Mccoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsia, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Being a business owner/entrepreneur doesn’t always have a defined or clear set of rules. In my industry, book-writing, editing & publishing, there are guidelines and examples to go-by, but it’s up to you to set your processes and procedures to fit your specific methods and practices.
How do you know if it’s time to keep going or give up??? I have been in this position to make this decision more than once. You have to ask yourself if your passion and determination is still there. Do you still have the desire to get up every morning and show up for your clients… show up for yourself even if the results and/or outcome are not what you expect or receive.
Should you give up?? I would say this may be the decision you have to make if your heart and passion is no longer there or if you truly are not receiving the income in order to live/survive.
Each of these choices must be thought about carefully and strategically to be sure it is indeed the direction you should go.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a published author, editor, ghostwriter, publisher, book-writing consultant and podcast show host. I am most proud of being able to turn what started as a hobby into a full-time business and help others accomplish their goals of becoming published authors..
What sets me apart from others is the amount of patience and individualized attention that is given to each of my clients. I walk with them through every step of the process. No project is too complicated and I work with multiple genres.
I have been in this industry for more than 20 years, however, I made it a career 2 years ago. Setting it up and getting started was easy… moving through the daily operations and actually realizing “I” was the CEO… “I” was now in charge of payroll and HR and IT and all of those things was VERY challenging. I overcame them by working with mentors and those who have been in my footsteps already. I also gave myself lots of GRACE!!! I reminded myself that as long as I show up for my clients and commit to their projects everything would move as it needed to.
Lessons I have learned along the way — ASK FOR HELP!!! Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help even if you are the business owner. Guess what?? You don’t know everything, you don’t have every resource and sometimes you just need another brain, another set of eyes and another pair of hands to get the job done. If you have a team/village/support system, use them and let them help you!
I want the world to know that “Your Writing Table” is committed to helping aspiring (and seasoned) authors tell their story in their unique way that will impact every reader. Their voice matters… Their words matter… Their story matters. We are here to help them tell their story their way, in their words.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was visiting me, each place we would visit would be based on food because we are definitely foodies!!! We would have breakfast at some of my favorite spots like The Breakfast Klub or the Toasted Yolk or we might try a new restaurant that we saw on social media. The city I live in is known for it’s amazing food trucks so we would definitely check out more than one of those. I don’t live far from an actual food truck park, so we would check that out more than once!
My bestie and I also love shopping so we would check out some of the local spots to look for clothes or home decor and we would most likely take a drive “out of town” like Frisco or Dallas or San Marcos to visit some other shopping spots that are only native to my state.
We would visit a few wineries in the “Hill Country” near Austin and sample some great wines, too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my 3 children who are my reasons for everything I do. As a single mom, we are close knit and I never want them to forget that when obstacles and challenges come their way, they can always do anything they set their minds to. My daughter is my mini-me and I enjoy watching her grow into a beautiful young lady calling me or texting me as often as she can… LOL
My oldest son is the one who reminds me why I have gray hair… LOL He knows he has TRULY kept me on my toes and there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing him mature and become an amazing young man.
My youngest son is my protector and overseer. He makes sure he knows my every move and reminds me that he’s looking out for me all the time. He has faced some challenges at an early age but his resilience inspires & motivates me!
I thank God for each of my babies and I am super blessed to be their mom! I love you guys!!!
