We had the good fortune of connecting with Dakota Arrington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dakota, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was capturing the beautiful moments that life offers us. Capturing the smiles, cries, and special moments like the sun hitting the trees and the birds flying in the sky is what I have a passion to capture and bring to one’s eyes so that they may be in awe of what life gives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is first the effort I put into my work. Going out and allowing my senses to guide me into the right places and capturing mouth-dropping photos/videos that I make with the equipment that I currently have. I am most excited about being a part of Shoutout HTX and being able to share my testimony with you guys. Next is just going out there and creating masterpieces of work. The way I got to where I am now is by the work I produce and people loving it wanting their moments captured and displayed in front of them to offer to the world. My journey has been good so far. I wouldn’t say it was easy but bearable. Just having that relentless to keep shooting no matter what other photographers are doing and allowing my faith to take place within my business. The lessons I’ve learned were how to use a camera first of all. Learning how to communicate with customers and give out great pricing points for me and the customer that I’m shooting for. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend visits for the week I first would look into things they are interested in. One of my close friends loves cars and building and working on them. So I would take them to a car show and or a car meet-up in the area. Around that time capturing the coolest cars with my camera and giving them to him would be a great way to get the full experience of what we did. Next, we will go to an arcade to eat and hang out because we came up playing football so that competitive nature will come out and that will be our fun. Places like Andretti, Funbowl, and Paintballing will be the places we visit and compete. The most exciting places to go will be a NASCAR race, an NFL or college football game, and a monster truck show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God is the first I want to shout out for giving me these passions to capture moments and bring them to one’s eyes and to make it a business. Next, my mother, is why I’m able to do what I do. She was the first to give me my first camera and understand where my passion lies within this world we live in. Last, is my dad, family, and friends who support my work and always encourage me to do what I do and give me the love that I need to continue.
