We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Strobel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexa, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
How I know whether to keep going or to give up is by looking at it like this— time is going to pass by regardless, might as well make the best of it! It is important to show up for yourself, even on the days you don’t feel like it. For me, I don’t give up because there is a younger version of myself that would never believe we made it this far. And the thought of that is what inspires me to keep going.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am really proud and excited for the upcoming collaborations I have accepted from makeup brands. I’ve been using some of these brands since I was younger and to be recognized by said brands is just mind blowing. The journey hasn’t always been easy, though. There has been doubt along the way and I often suffer from imposter syndrome. I’m a huge mental health advocate and can also relate, as I suffer with mental health. I overcome these challenges with daily affirmations and turn makeup into an outlet. As soon as I sit down in my makeup chair, I can become whoever and whatever I want to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a friend coming to visit, we would start the day by going to Post Houston for a view of the city and coffee. Then we would either bike or scooter around Rice Village and check out the Museum District. Depending on the weather, we would either continue sightseeing or check out a book or thrift store. As the sun goes down, I would take my friend to Memorial park to see the fountain. We would then start the evening by grabbing a bite to eat from a taco truck. Then pregame at Little Woodrow’s, followed by Dogwood. We would then bar-hop Midtown and end the night stopping by Wonder Bar and then Agora’s for more coffee (lol).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is definitely to my small family (mom and sister), along with my partner and close friends. It’s such an awesome feeling when the people closest to you want the best for you, and will help you get there. I am very thankful for my support group, along with my followers. My Instagram page was created to showcase my makeup looks, and in return has become so much more than that— it’s a community.
