We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Valencia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success as a hairstylist has been creating a clear and authentic brand for myself. Taking the time to define what sets me apart—whether it’s my focus on custom color, extensions, or layered cuts—allowed me to connect with the right clients and build trust in my expertise. Fine-tuning that vision and staying true to it has been a huge factor in growing my career and establishing my presence in the beauty industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart is not just the experience I provide but the genuine relationships I build with my guests—they often become true friends. I’m most excited about continuing to learn new techniques and trends, always striving to perfect my craft.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Life changes like moving, having children, and even rethinking my career have meant starting over and rebuilding my clientele multiple times. Through each transition, I developed effective methods for attracting new guests, and once they’re in my chair, they typically stay for the long term. I credit that to my willingness to truly listen and refine their look with every appointment.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my space is a judgment-free zone—you’re always welcome to be your most authentic self with me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Webster, TX, we’d have the best week exploring everything this area has to offer! Here’s how I’d plan the first 3 days:

Day 1

First things first, we’d start with breakfast at CoCo Crepes, Waffles & Coffee. Their crepes are so good. After that, we’d head straight to NASA’s Space Center Houston. It’s such an iconic spot, and there’s always something cool to learn or see there. For dinner, we’d keep it chill and head to Noon Mirch Indian! Their sampler is amazing!

Day 2

We’d grab coffee and mini donuts from Donut Distillery—seriously, the mini donuts are adorable and delicious. Then we’d spend the day hopping between thrift stores like The Endless Closet or Charity Guild Shop. I love finding unique pieces, and I know they would too.

Day 3

Beach day! We’d start at Kemah Coffee House for coffee and pastries and then head to Kemah Boardwalk, the Ferris wheel is a must! After that, we’d drive down to Galveston and spend the afternoon on the beach or exploring The Strand.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I wouldn’t be where I am today without my husband and kids. They’ve been my biggest cheerleaders, always supporting me and giving me the motivation to keep going. I also have to shout out my amazing clients—they trust me with their hair and let me do what I love every day. Their loyalty and support mean so much to me, and I’m so grateful for them.
