We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Beaudry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting this business is to make art and help clients shine through my lens. I built this business with a purpose. My purpose is to capture what an audience will see but with a narrative and a life painting. My camera is my canvas. As soon as I put a subject in front of my lens, my mind goes to work. I want my clients to be able to express themselves through my photos. My goal is to capture clients’ most memorable moments and them at their best. When I started this business, I wanted to stand out as a photographer. I don’t want to be just an ordinary girl behind a camera,I want to do things differently. I want my work to speak for itself and I want clients to see me as a storyteller through my photos. As a fan of the music scene, I don’t mind going the extra mile and supporting my clients. Especially ones that support me in what I do. I love what I do, and I want that to show in my work. My passion is the art of photography. If I didn’t leave my mark and inspire you, I didn’t do my job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a photographer, I’ve learned how to view the world through my camera lens. I notice things like color, light, motion, things worth shooting. Anything from palm trees at the beach under a beautiful sunset to an awesome view of a band on stage will get me going with my camera. One thing I feel that separates me from everyone else is my drive to be different. To do things that nobody else does. I like to have my own style in photography. I like to get very artsy and creative with my images. I like to use techniques that others don’t normally use. To me what kind of photographer would I be if I did what everyone else does? At the very beginning of all this,I was self taught on the camera. Oddly I started and stayed in manual mode. That’s something not too many can say. Manual mode is a more daring approach, allowing you to have total control of your settings on your camera. I tried using the basic automatic setting but I felt restricted, limited. My start was definitely not easy, first off I suffer from anxiety so being around crowds was tricky. But I’ve learned to overcome it by keeping myself focused on my work. I quickly started getting hits after my first gig in August of 2023. Several local musicians after that show noticed my work when I began posting it. I instantly got hits for shows and grew from there on. I began to really enjoy doing what I do, and took my work to another level by starting photography school. My work improved and the clientele grew. In a matter of months I was given the opportunity to shoot for bands out of town and out of state like Element Eighty, Secret of Boris, HED PE,Gemini Syndrome, Wednesday 13, Skinlab and many more. One of the biggest lessons I learned was to never feel the need to compete. I let my work speak. Regardless of who you are there is always going to be someone out there better than you. And if you really want to stand out, you have to be confident in your work, and you have to work hard by being consistent. Consistency is key! Also be humble! I’m not afraid to compliment another photographer. If it’s true they need to hear it. I love hearing feedback as well. Good or bad. And that’s one thing I would want the world to know. My brand is here to grow. I’ll get knocked down or have road blocks I’m sure, but I will never stop doing what I love, god willing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to be, especially at night, is in the city by skyscrapers. Downtown Houston is beautiful at night for a stroll. So I would recommend that. Also the venues that way are fun as well. House of Blues ,Warehouse Live Midtown, White Oak Music hall are just some of the venues I would suggest. One place I have yet to check out is POST Houston and the Marriott rooftop with the Texas shaped pool because, I think they would be great for photo opportunities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many inspirational people in my life, but if I had to pick one it would be my husband for all his support and keeping me going. He’s with me a lot of the time helping me with my gear and making sure I get to my gigs. I’d have to say David is my biggest supporter and fan along side of my daughter.
