Meet Sabra Grubb

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabra Grubb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had dreamed of being a business owner for years. My plan was to take over for a company that I had been at for 11 years, reshaping it to best serve my vision. That plan I had didn’t work out and it made me realize I wanted more for myself and my future. I knew I had to do this on my own—not just to build something new, but to prove to myself that I could. Starting my own business was driven by a combination of passion and opportunity. I saw a gap in the market and I knew I could offer something unique! From that moment, everything moved quickly. I started with a name, mapped out the services I wanted to offer, identified my ideal clientele, sourced the right products, and worked on getting my business legal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I get asked all the time how I got into spray tanning, and honestly, I stumbled into it by accident! What started as a job at a tanning salon during college quickly turned into my passion and, before I knew it, my career. Now, over a decade later, with 12 years in the industry and more than five as a licensed esthetician, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
What sets me apart and what encourages me to be the best at what I do is the way it makes me feel and my passion for my career. It’s not just a job for me! I fell in love with what spray tanning does for people, the way it makes them feel, the new found confidence boost a spray tan can give is unmatched. Another rewarding part of my career is the friendships that I’ve built. Many I have sprayed for prom, high school graduation, first dates, weddings, baby showers and all the little things in between. All important and special events in each of their lives that I was able to be apart of, even in a small way!
I have got to where I am today by challenging myself, hard work, being understanding and accepting of whatever comes my way! I am committed to always learning, growing, and striving to be better—both personally and in my business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is hard, there are SO many good spots!! For Richmond, Tx , I’d say we have to go eat at the grove donuts for breakfast, Montes tastes + Taps for lunch, La Montes Italian restaurant for dinner.
There is a great bakery/coffee shop we would have to go to, Ana’s Confections, my go to for a pumpkin iced latte and go shopping at first colony mall.
Margaritas and Mexican food one night at Lopez.
There is a winery down the street, Messina Hoff, that’s a great hang out one day!
Crawfish at the Pub Fountains, and go to a Rockets or Texans game!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my bestie, Kayla! She has been an incredible source of support and encouragement, always pushing me to keep going, even when things get tough. Her success and dedication as a business owner inspire me every day, and I strive to follow in her footsteps, learning from her resilience, passion, and drive!
