Meet Milton Garcia | Creative director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Milton Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milton, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was a hopeful moment to launch MonkYou with a completely independent album, but I fear today that the distinction between artist and producer is noticeable, since it’s a film producer taking charge of a musical album out of pure creative enthusiasm. And that duality still creates professional suspense for me, even though it remains a very original work, never before explored by me or anyone else I know.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began my acting career at an early age, just a child. I worked in television studios here in Cuba, and over the years I gained professionalism and experience until I entered the art school at the national school. I’ve been involved in the art world since I was little, but starting out has been difficult for me. Original ideas are what I seek most, but they require time and study. I’ve achieved little, even though I know I haven’t been here long. I maintain my desire to continue creating at the pace of life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, it would be a getaway to Old Havana early in the morning, touring the city in search of coffee until the afternoon for lunch. You could have a good time in the city center, with music and art in the streets it would be a good time. After lunch there would be the Malecón for a short trip along the sea and at night one of the most opportune places to unload with joy and live music, the Art Factory, pleasant and cool places full of youth
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my particular case, I am grateful for the efforts of my family, my parents, who have always supported my career, directly or indirectly, with love and a lot of harmony, patience, and kindness, knowing when something is truly essential for my professional growth. I also thank the artist friends I have and feel as the ultimate support for their itinerant criteria for every work or experience I have producing art.
