Meet Michael Bridgett | Writer. Vocalist. Performer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Bridgett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This might sound funny, but I was never good at “work” as a concept. Waking up every day, going to the same place, and sticking to a certain professional way of acting was all difficult for me. It might have been undiagnosed ADHD, but I had to switch how I worked to find a better way to be.
Once I started managing vacation rentals, it became easier to write more. Once I left the country, it was easier to write more. Once I returned to Houston, it was easy for me to write more. I’ve found a connection between writing articles and songs. If you can write rhymes, you can write essays. Once I felt good enough, I decided to go into business for myself and create The Dynamoverse.
Sometimes it’s hard, but I find working in this style more fulfilling than answering phones or running errands for other people. Writing essays and syncing songs for my company fits me the best.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My desire to be a writer started back in the first grade when my teacher took a story I wrote and placed it on the wall. I liked that feeling so much, I wanted to get it as often as I could. I was the kid who loved getting assigned reports over worksheets. I’m sure a lot of my classmates hated my requests for that type of assignment
In high school, I only lettered in two things. Football, which I was terrible at, and writing. Writing at that time was odd because my English teacher asked me to participate in contests I had never heard of before. By senior year, I only wrote for assignments, and was much too focused on learning lyrics to Timbaland songs.
Musically, I wrote my first song when I was 14 while sitting in a Subway waiting for my friend to pack up and leave. Finishing lyrics to a song made me feel like I was in first grade again – like a teacher put my story on a wall for the class to read. I started getting the “rockstar” pangs, but I was too afraid to take this path in high school. Luckily, I had karaoke to help me become an incredible performer.
College was a different story. Looking back, I spent my time at the University of Texas engulfed in music. Singing, rapping, joining bands, and combining them all into flurries of new sounds. It didn’t even matter what genre I was performing. I was in a reggae band, a ska band, a hip-hop band, a rap rock band, a 90s cover band, and more. I wasn’t expecting music to be so all-encompassing at the time, but I loved perfecting my performance more than anything.
Finally, after returning from my years in Cambodia and Estonia, I knew it was time to get serious about my contribution to the world. With that, I started writing songs and essays for myself. The stories never stopped, the music never stopped, and Michael “Mike Dynamo” Bridgett Jr. never stopped. I feel very lucky to be able to say that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
“My friend! I’m so glad you’re here! I want to take you somewhere special while you’re in town!”
Texas BBQ: Texans eat BBQ all the time, so while you’re here, we’ve got to get you some. There is no bad BBQ here! We can go to Rudy’s or Maika’i Hawaiian BBQ on the west side of town. Trust me… it will be (chef’s kiss) delicious.
Eighteen Ten Ojeman is the perfect place to go to see cool new bands or play a show yourself… if you’re so bold.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is the only place I will watch a movie. Mostly because we can order food DURING a movie, but I also bought a gift card that allows me to watch a movie a every day! We go, we watch, we eat some food, and I’ll write the movie review about the whole experience!
That sounds fun to me!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my parents, Michael and Charlene. They’ve always supported me, even when I was not doing what they told me to. You are the best parents I could have asked for.
I’d like to thank Angelia Carey. She was one of the first people to support The Dynamoverse with actual donation money. After that, it was important I made that money mean something and publish every week.
I’d like to thank Mitsy Chanel-Blot. She was the engine that powered the Dynamoverse concept from the beginning. She even got cards made! I would have never gone into business for myself without her.
I would also like to thank my music partners, CIC, Station, and my little brother, who goes by Eazymb. Without your production knowledge, I’d have no songs to write for.
Let’s thank all of them for everything I do.
