We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Anthony Clemons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Anthony, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
When it’s all said and done, I want my legacy to be that I poured energy into people, especially kids. That I helped build something that gave young players—regardless of their background—a chance to fall in love with soccer and with their own potential. I want to be remembered not just as a coach, but as someone who created access, opportunity, and joy through the game. With Pasadena Energy FC, the mission has always been bigger than wins or trophies. We’re building something in a community that often gets overlooked. I want people to say, “He gave kids a place to belong, a place to grow.” Whether a child became a college athlete, a pro, or just a confident, resilient adult—it matters to me that this club was part of their journey.

What should our readers know about your business?

**Pasadena Energy FC isn’t just a soccer club — it’s a movement rooted in community, access, and real energy.**

We’re based in Pasadena, Texas, and our mission has always been clear: to make high-quality soccer training affordable and accessible to all kids, regardless of their financial background. We train players from ages 3 all the way up through the high school and college prep levels. What sets us apart isn’t just the coaching or the drills — it’s the experience. We build real connections with our players, we invest in their confidence, and we create moments they’ll never forget, whether it’s walking onto the field at a Dynamo game or scoring their first goal at one of our summer camps.

I’m proud that we’ve been able to keep costs low while still offering an elite-level experience. We’ve done it without cutting corners — instead, we’ve leaned into creativity, community support, and a relentless work ethic.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like most things worth building, it came with its share of challenges — doubters, financial constraints, and the pressure to conform to how “other clubs” operate. But I stayed grounded in our mission. When you know your “why,” it’s easier to push through the tough days. And we’ve had a lot of those. But what I’ve learned is that when you put kids first, people notice. Families feel it. The players feel it.

What I want the world to know is this: Energy FC is different. We’re not in this for clout, trophies, or fancy facilities. We’re here to make kids fall in love with the game, believe in themselves, and find a second home in this club. We’re building something bigger than soccer.

And we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the full vibe of Pasadena and greater Houston — the culture, the food, the community, and of course, the ENERGY.

**Day 1 – Pasadena Welcome**
We’d start local with tacos and ceviche at *Mariscos El General*, then head over to watch a Pasadena Energy FC training session. There’s something powerful about seeing young kids chasing dreams on the field — it sets the tone for the kind of community we’re building here.

**Day 2 – Nature & Neighborhood BBQ**
Morning walk at Armand Bayou Nature Center — calm, scenic, and underrated. Lunch at *Pappas* a local BBQ joint. That evening, we’d relax at Burke Crenshaw Park for good conversation. Real chill, real local.

**Day 3 – Dynamo Game Night**
This day’s all about the **Houston Dynamo**. We’d head into East Downtown for pre-game food — *Pitch 25* is a great soccer hangout — then walk over to *Shell Energy Stadium*. As an official youth club partner, we’ve had our kids walk out with the players, hold banners, and hype the rally tunnel. Watching the match with that kind of connection makes it more than just a game — it’s inspiration in real time.

**Day 4 – Club Day: Passion & Purpose**
Back in Pasadena, I’d bring them into the heart of what we do — a Pasadena Energy FC event or training session. They’d see how we coach, connect, and create memories with kids through soccer. Then we’d end the night with something relaxed — maybe a pickup game or coaches’ hangout, just decompressing with our crew.

**Day 5 – Peter Piper Pizza & Community Vibes**
This one’s nostalgic. We’d go to *Peter Piper Pizza*, where we’ve hosted our Summer Kickoff parties with face painting, balloon artists, and just a room full of joy. It’s loud, it’s fun, and it feels like our club — full of energy, family, and smiles. Whether you’re 7 or 37, that place always delivers.

**Day 6 – Galveston Beach Break**
Time to reset. We’d head down to Galveston for some sun and seafood. Walk the seawall, ride the ferry, maybe play a little beach soccer just for fun. After all the action of the week, this is the perfect spot to breathe and reflect.

**Day 7 – The Energy Way Sendoff**
Final day, we’d bring the family and a few of our players and coaches together — grill out, kick the ball around, share some laughs. I’d want my friend to leave with a full heart and a sense of what this place is about. We’re building something different here — something rooted in energy, love for the game, and a belief that community changes everything.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely — no one builds anything meaningful alone, and I’ve had some incredible people and influences along the way that deserve this shoutout.

First and foremost, **my family** — especially my wife Julia and my kids Sadi, TJ, Julian and Joziah. — they’ve been patient, supportive, and understanding through all the long hours, tough decisions, and growing pains. Their belief in what I’m doing with Pasadena Energy FC has been my fuel when things got tough.

I also have to recognize **the families and players of our club**. They took a chance on something new. Some of them came from more established programs, some from no soccer background at all — but they believed in our mission, showed up with heart, and made this feel like more than just a club. They’ve helped shape the culture we’re building.

**Coach mentors and friends in the game** — the ones who gave me honest feedback, challenged me to think bigger, and reminded me why this work matters. And definitely the **Houston Dynamo organization** — being part of their youth club partnership has brought next-level opportunities to our kids and added legitimacy to what we’re doing.

And finally, a big shoutout to the **community of Pasadena, Texas**. There’s something special about this place — the grit, the pride, the diversity — and I’m honored to be building something here with and for the people who make it home.
