We had the good fortune of connecting with Oluwafemi Owolabi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Oluwafemi, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My long-term goal is to become a professional touring artist whose music resonates with people across cultures and makes a lasting impact. I want my songs to not only entertain but also connect emotionally, inspire, and create meaningful experiences for listeners. At the same time, I aim to achieve recognition through awards and accomplishments that reflect the quality and reach of my artistry. Ultimately, I want to build a career that combines global touring, professional success, and genuine impact on people’s lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in Afrobeats and Afro-Fusion, but what sets me apart is the way I blend those rhythms with storytelling and emotions that people from any background can connect to. I want my music to be more than sound—I want it to be an experience that brings joy, reflection, and unity.

One thing I’m most proud of is staying true to my sound and my vision, even when it would have been easier to follow trends. Every performance and every song release has been a step forward, and seeing people resonate with my music keeps me motivated.

The journey hasn’t been easy—there have been setbacks, financial struggles, and moments of doubt—but I overcame them by staying consistent, learning from each challenge, and surrounding myself with supportive people who believe in my vision. I’ve learned that patience, persistence, and authenticity are key.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that this isn’t just music—it’s a movement. My story is one of resilience, love for the culture, and the drive to impact people’s lives through sound. Flow-Izzy is about vibes, connection, and legacy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Houston for a week, I’d make sure they got the full experience of the city’s flavor, culture, and energy. We’d start with food—because Houston is all about great eats. I’d take them to spots like Turkey Leg Hut for that Houston staple, then maybe hit up Aesha’s Kitchen or Rhay’s Restaurant for authentic Nigerian meals, and mix it with some good barbecue and seafood at places like Lotus Seafood or Lucille’s.

For daytime activities, we’d check out The Museum District, the Houston Museum of African American Culture, and take a stroll through Discovery Green or Buffalo Bayou Park. Midweek, I’d plan a visit to the Galleria for shopping, and maybe a trip down to Kemah Boardwalk or Galveston for a beach day.

At night, it’s all about the vibes—lounges and nightlife in Midtown, spots like Pour Behavior, Decorum, or catching a live show at House of Blues. For Afrobeats and dancehall nights, we’d hit clubs like Reveal, Aura, Atlas where the DJs keep the energy alive and the community comes together.

By the weekend, I’d line up a proper Houston day party, because nothing beats the mix of music, food, and good people. And to close the week, we’d keep it chill—Sunday brunch and sunday night party cos you don’t want to leave Houston on a sunday so we gonna hit Hauz of Boom and Classic Lounge for after hours and I’m gonna make sure he got his stuffs in the car cos we finna hit the airport right after as I won’t be the reason why he missed his flight. Lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big love and gratitude to my family for standing by me through it all—the highs, the lows, and every moment in between. Your support, prayers, and belief in me keep me going, and I carry you with me in everything I do. This journey is ours.
