We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessenia Velazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessenia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At SAS Tax & Business Solutions, our mission goes beyond taxes, we exist to empower the community through financial education, business formation, and proactive tax planning. Many of our clients are first-generation entrepreneurs navigating complex financial systems in a new country. We bridge that gap by providing guidance in both English and Spanish, helping them structure their businesses correctly, stay compliant, and create generational wealth.

Our team actively participates in community initiatives, workshops, and educational events focused on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. By teaching individuals how to manage their finances, grow their businesses, and understand the “why” behind every number, we’re not just preparing taxes we’re building stronger, more confident business owners who uplift their families and communities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I started SAS, I saw firsthand how many entrepreneurs were working hard but still struggling because no one had taken the time to teach them the “why” behind the numbers. Taxes, accounting, and compliance can feel intimidating especially for first-generation business owners. Our team changes that by offering not just services, but education, guidance, and partnership in both English and Spanish.

What sets us apart is our personalized, relationship-driven approach. Every client’s story matters to us. We look at the full picture their goals, their family, their future and help them structure their business in a way that builds financial freedom.

The journey hasn’t been easy. I started with very limited resources, a vision, and a lot of faith. There were long nights, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But every challenge became a lesson to trust the process, lean on God, and continue showing up with integrity and purpose.

Today, I’m most proud of the impact SAS has made from helping clients save thousands in taxes, to guiding first-generation entrepreneurs through their first LLC, to mentoring young professionals entering the accounting field. We’ve become a trusted partner, not just a tax office.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about SAS and about me, it’s that we’re more than numbers. We’re here to create opportunities, to educate, and to empower our community to dream bigger. Because when one small business thrives, the whole community rises.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d want them to experience the real Houston the people, culture, and energy that make this city special. We’d start with breakfast at Cielito cafe, then walk Buffalo Bayou Park to take in the skyline. Lunch would be some pupusas, followed by an afternoon exploring the Museum District or a local small business pop-up. Houston is full of heart and hustle no matter where you go, you’ll meet people chasing dreams, and that’s exactly what I’d want them to feel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have played a part in my journey, but my biggest shoutout goes to my family and my incredible team at SAS Tax & Business Solutions. My mother, Silvia Campos, has been my greatest inspiration — her strength, work ethic, and faith have taught me the value of perseverance and purpose. My children remind me daily why I do what I do they are my motivation to keep building and serving.

I also want to recognize my team at SAS their dedication and belief in our mission to empower the community through financial literacy truly keeps this vision alive. And to all the entrepreneurs and professionals who have collaborated with me, mentored me, or believed in me along the way you’ve each played a role in shaping the woman and leader I am today.
