We had the good fortune of connecting with Calvin Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calvin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a business was always something I wanted to do. I’ve worked in this industry for years and genuinely love it — the creativity, the craftsmanship, and the people it connects you with. I was an artist at a local shop that eventually shut down, and even in that moment, I recognized there was still a real need for this type of work in our area.

After spending time in a few different shops, I started to see patterns — what worked well and what didn’t. I felt confident that if I took what I’d learned and avoided some of those missteps, I could build something better. So I took the risk and started 104 Customs and More.

From day one, I wanted to build a print shop that was both professional and personal — a place that stood behind its quality and cared about every person who called or walked through the door. I wanted a company that had real business standards but also held strong Christian values. In an industry with plenty of options, I knew we could create something unique by simply doing things the right way — with excellence, integrity, and heart.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I want the world to know that business can be more than just an exchange of money and services. At its best, it can be built on values and purpose — a way to use your gifts and your work to make a real difference. For us, the business is the outlet, not the end goal. It’s the way we live out what we believe, serve others, and express the creativity we’ve been given.

The name 104 comes from Psalm 104, which paints this incredible picture of the grandeur of God — His creation, His power, and His care for every detail. In an industry that thrives on inspiration, we wanted to ask: Is there an ultimate inspiration? Painters might find it in a sunset, writers in a quiet cabin, or musicians in a melody. For us, the answer is yes — we find our ultimate inspiration in Psalm 104.

That chapter reminds us who God is and how He sustains everything He’s made. It’s that truth that fuels what we do every day. Our tagline, “Inspired to Create,” comes from that very idea — that creativity is a reflection of the Creator. Every design, every print, every sign or engraving is an opportunity to take the inspiration we’ve been given and use it to serve others.

So for us, 104 isn’t just a name — it’s a reminder. A reminder to stay humble, stay grateful, and to let our work point back to the One who inspires it all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d want them to experience what really makes our area special — the people. We might not have all the big-city attractions, but what we do have is a community full of heart, creativity, and hard-working folks who care about each other.

We’d start the week with breakfast at Aziel’s Café — good food, better people. Then we’d swing by 104 Customs and More so they could see what we do and meet the team that makes it happen. For lunch, Papa Dogz is always a hit — great food and that true local feel. Dinner at El Toro would be a must for some of the best Tex-Mex around, and we’d wrap up one of the evenings with good company at The Wurst Haus.

Later in the week, we might make the short trip up to Pearland to explore a few bigger restaurants or grab a dinner at Poly Pop, but honestly, the best parts of the visit would be spent right here — visiting with the people who make this community what it is. The business owners, the teachers, the pastors, the coaches — they’re the ones who make this place worth calling home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The list is massive for who deserves credit in my story. So many people took a chance on a young artist trying to figure things out. Many local entrepreneurs were kind enough to share their wisdom and experience, giving me a foundation to learn from. And just as important, many customers took a risk on the new guys in town during those early days — and they’ve stayed with us ever since.

My family has rallied behind this business from day one. Over the years, several family members have worked alongside me and still do. We’ve built this together.

But if there’s one person who deserves special recognition, it’s my wife, Rachel. She’s carried the weight of the good and the hard that comes with being married to a business owner — the long hours, the ruined plans, the interruptions during vacations, and the seasons of wondering how the bills would get paid. Through it all, she’s prayed over every move and believed in every step. She’s also been the first one to hear, “I have an idea,” and still manages to smile, knowing full well what could be coming next.

104 Customs and More wouldn’t be what it is today without her — or without the incredible people who believed in us before there was much to believe in.
