Meet Rand Mintzer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rand Mintzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rand, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I have two businesses. I am a criminal defense attorney. In that capacity I stand between my client and the government making sure that the government follows the rules. I help my clients get their lives back when all goes well. When it is appropriate, I link my clients up with community resources to help them lead more productive lives. As a radio/podcast host on my shows THNX: A Feelgood Broadcast and THNX; A Feelgood Podcast, I share other people’s lives with them. I hope that I show them that this world is very diverse and everyone contributes in their own unique way. I also share with my listeners that we can have such a positive and profound effect on another person’s life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The podcast and later radio show arose from a middle school principal talking about how she was illiterate until her sixth-grade teacher realized this and during his lunch breaks taught her to read. I realized the profound impact human beings have on one another. I then began to look for interesting people to interview to share their life and give thanks. I am fortunate that I have been able to interview hundreds of wonderful people that tell stories that highlight the best in humanity. The lesson I learned along the way is that nothing is as important is the time we spend with others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love things that creatives produce, film, art, food and music. The theater chosen depends on the movie. To see art, I love the Menil and. you cannot go wrong with any of our art museums. My favorite restaurants are Porto Vino, Chapultepec, Sunrise Taquito for breakfast tacos, Dumpling King, Fung’s Kitchen, Ambassador House and Pizzaro. We are blessed with an overabundance of great restaurants. We also have quite a few music venues, I like the Heights Theater, and Allen Hill books incredible talent at The Continental Club. I have high hopes for Doc’s the new jazz club that is just opening.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and two daughters for their encouragement and unconditional support. Chris Jordan deserves special recognition for editing 275 episodes.
