Meet Chef Danny Chef Pam

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Danny Chef Pam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef Danny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The Houston food scene is a vibrant one! Lots of restaurants, food trucks, hole in walls places, mom and pops, etc. But the Catering side was a little bit stagnant.
Being from Mexico, where the heart of every home is the kitchen, we thought a great way to share our culture with this amazing city would be though food experiences!
Our more than 10 years of experience in Food and Beverage at the time allowed us to put our heads together and start a company supported in service, respect, tradition, hospitality, sustainability and culture.
At the same time it is a great way to showcase our abilities and experience while connecting with people and monetizing our talents along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Everyone thinks starting a business is easy. You’ll leave your 9-5 and start working less because now you are your own boss. They couldn’t be more wrong!
Owning a business is not an easy endeavor and certainly not for everyone. At the beginning you wear every hat and need to understand about everything: sales, marketing, accounting, operations, human resources, transportation, technology, etc. So you actually end up working waaaaay more hours than at your regular job.
This was the case for us, but we had owned businesses in the past so we knew what we were getting ourselves into, and we certainly don’t mind.
We are passionate about food, service and connecting with people, whatever happens around a table with beautiful food is magic! And we like to base our business in that. We also keep in mind that nourishing our bodies with healthy food is very important, so we stand by that, everything while making sure that we reduce waste to the minimum.
Did you know that while the US is one of the most obese countries in the world, 40% of groceries bought end up in the trash? This is quite concerning and we are doing our best to address those issues at our business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely build our itinerary around food!
We would go out to eat Friday night to a place like Traveler’s Cart for an International Inspired dinner. Followed by a couple of drinks at Anvil and then hit one of the other bars in Montrose like Poison Girl or Boheme.
Saturday we would definitely have coffee and a light breakfast at home because who wants to visit a couple of Chefs and not get pampered with their awesome food! We would then go enjoy amazing TX BBQ at our favorite place, TRUTH BBQ, we usually do not stand in line for food, but this place is absolutely worth it!
We would then enjoy a beer at one of the many breweries in town like Platypus, Eureka, or maybe Saint Arnold’s.
Dinner would definitely be at La Cruderia, at either the Bellaire or Spring Branch locations, best authentic mexican food in town! Hopefully the Astros would be playing here so we can enjoy a game!
Sunday we would enjoy breakfast at The Breakfast Klub, again, one of the only lines worth the food in our opinion.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our friends and families who always support what we do, from moving aways from home, to opening our first restaurant, to traveling extensively on our motorcycle and other modes of transportation and every other crazy idea we get.
To our teachers and mentors who we owe our knowledge and experience. To our business partners who believe in our experience and our mission.
And especially, to each other, for being there during the happy and tough times, for our relentlessness and willingness to BE a team.
