We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marie, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is my team. Without them I would not be able to be where I am today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my business is called Fizz Nails. We recently opened up our third location in Houston in the Heights. We were recently voted best manicurist salon for 2020 by the Houston Chronicle. We are not your average nail salon, we are here to help you incorporate this idea into your lifestyle. The idea of maintenance and pampering to live and love yourself. It isn’t a chore that requires you to dread coming in to get your nails done, but rather a necessity that allows you to feel whole again. Once your nails are done, you’ll feel like a whole new person. We are a part of your lifestyle. It was very difficult at the beginning. There were numerous challenges. I had just moved to Houston. I didn’t have a network in place but I had family I could depend on. There were very long nights at work. We were very short staff in the beginning but over time as our brand grew, it became a little easier to hire good help. With most things in life, if you keep giving your all than eventually it will pay off. Never give up. Everyday comes with new challenges. You just have to continue to push forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First and foremost, I would take them to Fizz Nails to get pampered. I honestly don’t go out much but anytime I need anything than I would visit Chinatown in Houston. My go to spot is Giau bar and bites. It is a hangout spot where the food is amazing and the selection of drinks are endless.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out my husband Dung Tran. He is truly an inspiration in my life. Without him I would not be where I am today.
