We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Tchiengang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
During a family vacation in Utah where my family took family pictures for our Christmas card, I was so impressed with the job the photographer did to the point that it sparked in me an interest in photography. Couple months later, I was taking steps toward learning the art with the hope that one day I would deliver product to the level of that photographer in Utah.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a full time realtor and residential appraiser assistant, photography is a hobby turned into small business. I have always believe in simplicity. Although, I can appreciate the perplexity of other artists. I have enjoyed keeping my photography simple. I think that alone separate me from a very competitive field of super talented and innovative photographers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was to visit town, we mostly we would spend watching basketball and occasionally go to parks around town, like Tinsley Park and Hermann Park, play some TopGolf and perhaps brunch at First Watch.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I did a lot of learning through YouTube but everything made a lot more sense when a photographer friend of mine Larry Wong @elarrywong gave a crash course on photography which helped me understand key concepts of photography which facilitate my learning. I would also credit another friend of mine Kobe Nana @skrowelens for his continuous support.
