We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Ann Landry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary Ann, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor to success is to know your Why? Being the CEO/CVO of Consultants in Dental Aesthetics, requires the ability to differentiate our practice from the pack. So many people think that all dental practices are the same. The majority are, but we believe that we can increase our humanitarian footprint through dentistry. That’s right, everything we do is bounced off that belief. My entire team continually participate in personal development trainings to increase their sphere of influence and build self-esteem and learn their purpose. Culture preservation and development in our team are the ingredients to a healthy environment which our patients clearly see in genuine smiles and the service experience we offer.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s funny really, how my original career in aviation led me to dentistry. I first starting flying as an International Flight Attendant and eventually became the Director of Inflight Training. My years of globe-trotting and cultural experiences cultivated my desire to embrace people’s uniquenesses and blend them to maximize our talents and resulting in the ultimate service experience. I was introduced to my husband via a blind date. It’s great how others know who might be good for you, and that’s the way the blind date unravelled. My husband Michael, a dentist, was very proud of his craft and education. It wasn’t until we combined forces that we broke glass ceilings, unearthed our WHY, and have designed a dental practice which delivers much more than dentistry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is an incredible culturally diverse city, full of culinary treats and a mecca of fine arts. I often look to what’s happening currently in town but it generally always involves grazing through the city. I recently searched for Houston’s most unique restaurants, I love to get lost in the atmosphere, savory aromas and complimentary libations. I love old world wines and foods which urges you to take another bite, followed by another sip. Food and wine have a natural affinity for one another. UBER or designated driver highly recommended, lol. The landmarks in Houston, such as the local graffitti, the bayou and many parks fill my soul. I crave the arts and hope they will be fully restored in the coming months. Our theatre, ballet and symphonies are second to none.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It is critical to surround yourself with advancing people who strengthen your values and cheer you on. I am grateful for the mentorship of Jay Geier and team. Jay is a coach who embraces business sense aligned with Christian Values. He and his team really stretched my ability to be disciplined and create a morning ritual which sets me up for success. Each morning I wake , brew my coffee, pray, read something to increase my mental nutrition and exercise. Yes, this takes work, but I believe it is this discipline and self-care which propels my daily, weekly, monthly successes. I will also recognize that I have attracted quality friendships. Inspiring women and men who are advocates for my health and business success. You know who you are and I am so grateful to journey with you (C.S., NLG and J. J., and my United Friends, wink!)
