We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Cullip and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, what matters most to you?
Integrity. Without the principle of integrity in your business or life the result, and even the journey there become pointless. It is also a surefire way to fall short of the success you desire. Making sure that everything has care and attention to the details when working with people is paramount to success. Henry Firestone said “Success in in the sum of the details” which is exactly how I feel about working with people. Listen, consider and have integrity in every aspect of your pathway.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would hope if asked that people would say that our integrity, honesty, care, passion, knowledge and enthusiasm set us apart form other organizations. Along with our resources and partnerships. Look, nothing is A-B-C. to see a pathway that way is shortsighted. I have made huge mistakes that have cost me personally and professionally. I think the mantra of “get knocked down 7 times, get up 8” is important. Sometimes my values and passion have got me into difficult situations! Some I with hindsight I feel my battles could have been different, some I wish I had shown more resolve! If it is not hard and does not present challenges, I am not sure the rewards would be positive! With that all said I think my pathway is no where near completed. I have so much more I want to offer our community and communities around the World. I suppose I would advise a younger version of myself to be more patient, take a break, listen to the people you trust and to remain positive in yourself. Everything is possible to overcome. I think people should know if your kid comes to us, we will do our absolute best to make them better through positive reinforcement and play based coaching. We will be there to guide and advise and help in any way we can. Nothing is more important in my opinion, than that. Im proud of all our players and staff. They are the cornerstone of my “why?”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would make them babysit and take my wife to Tulum for the weekend! Houston is a fantastic city. I would go to the Aquarium, The Zoo, The Space Center, The Museum of Natural Science (both of them), the Childrens Museum, Hermann Park, Rice Village, The Heights Area, Minute Maid Park to see our Astros, NRG Stadium for the Texans and Toyota Center to see our Rockets! And of course BBVA Compass to watch the Dash and Dynamo play!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ugh so many……..without the support of those around us, I would never have had any success at all. Some of our members have helped us along the way in so many ways. The hard part is most of them don’t like being mentioned, which goes to their modesty and integrity. The Guy Family, The Lawson- Ho Family, The DeGregorio’s, The Shields’, The Craigs and The McDermott’s (among many others). My mother and father have had a huge influence on me, I have huge resolve and fire because of my mother and consideration and attention to “the right way” because of my dad. From a football perspective Tom Sermanni has had a wonderful influence on me, he taught me to truly love and enjoy football training. But my influences have been World wide so its is impossible to not mention Isac Doru, Sam Laity, Darren Back, Dave Puro and Marcos Picollo who give me so much to consider in the teaching realm. The biggest influence is my wife, Anne-Marie (who would say she is not!) as she creates a platform for me to ask for advice from multiple views. I take her advice far more often than she might believe. Then, my children Imogen-Lily, Jude and Alfred. Because this is why I do everything.
