We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Mccomb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked for a couple of solar companies and I always gave 150%. I ran their companies, like they were my own, wether it was customer service issues, sales or other issues. I realized very quickly that I was building everyone else’s brand with a ton of amazing reviews and service and decided one day to redirect all that energy into my own Brand…. SolarGirlTX.
SolarGirlTX, is one of the only female owned and ran solar companies out there, I am proud to say. What we do is help Texas families save money. Not only save money, but we make sure that their home is running as energy efficient as possible. We can add insulation, replace electric water heaters( next biggest consumer in home next to hvac unit) and we can upgrade their HVAC system. ALL without any money out of pocket!
My philosophy is do right by my homeowners and team and the money will come. Its more important to me to do the right thing, than it is for me to make tons of money.
I pride myself on doing what is best for my homeowners. If solar isn’t for them.. I will be the first to tell them so.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I Started my career with Tesla, when it was SolarCity and had an intense 2 week bootcamp. I learned a great deal about solar. However, once I relocated to Dallas Texas. I needed to learn a TON more on deregulated markets and retailers because Las Vegas was a regulated market.
I wanted to incorporate energy efficiency into my business model, so that I could help families fix their homes with no money out of pocket. I realize the expense of replacing entire hvac units or adding radiant barrier to their attics and wanted a way to shave down the amount of panels being used and the amount of money my Homeowners needed to pay. I love to be able to go to a home that has an older HVAC system and high consumption, replace their HVAC(s) units without any money out of pocket and add equity to their home with solar and cut their bill by $50-150 a month while getting them a 26% Federal Tax Credit. Basically, we want to reduce before we produce.
The end game for me is to have happy homeowners that refer all their friends and family.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in the DFW area, I would encourage visitors to check out the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Stockyards are A MUST for the “Texas Experience”. You can shop, eat and see some Longhorns. If you are on the Dallas side of DFW and looking for amazing shopping, great dining and fabulous Happy Hour’s ,,, Legacy West in Plano is a great place to hang with your friends and family.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a huge Texas sized family that is super supportive in anything I do. My Mother was a single Mother who was both Mother and Father to me. My Mother is my biggest cheerleader and always has my back. I have taken several relatives and family friends, solar. I love to make a difference in people lives!
