We had the good fortune of connecting with D The Business and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi D The Business, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success as a music artist, serial entrepreneur, actor and real estate agent is believing you can do anything you want by manifestation of the mind, taking consistent action towards those beliefs, not giving up and ultimately knowing your why.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The thing that sets me apart as a music artist is my authenticity and what I bring to the industry from a mogul standpoint inspiring people to diversify their hustle like investing in multiple industries, retaining ownership and showing them they could use real estate to buy back the block and rehab the neighborhoods they grew up in. I’m excited that with every goal I accomplish it brings me one step closer toward becoming a massive figure in mainstream music and business. Born Donavin Hogan better known by my stage name D The Business formerly known as Lil D and Little D, I gained fame at just 10 years of age as a rapper in the early 2000s along side my cousin Romeo Miller (formerly Lil’ Romeo ) after signing with No Limit Records, then owned and founded by my cousin, Master P. I got to where I am today by being consistent, never giving up, staying true to self, and leveraging all of the experiences I learned over the years during my come up. It definitely wasn’t easy by far being independent and self funded, running my own label L.I.E. Entertainment (Loyalty Is Everything), being founder and CEO of several companies and doing real estate was a real responsibility. I overcame certain challenges by putting people in position to handle the small task and not just DIY every single thing like I had become accustomed to doing. Sometimes you have to learn how to be an expert at hiring experts, doing this allowed me to focus on the bigger tasks that were more essential to growing my businesses. One of the things I want the world to know from my brand is that with loyalty, hard work and undeniable faith you really can accomplish any success you want in life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As soon as they touch down in Houston I would take them to Mo City (Missouri City) to get a fresh haircut by my personal barber at C & C Barbershop. Then we’ll hit the Galleria before going to visit the custom celebrity jewelers at The Diamond Society. We’ll get a basketball hoop cardio workout in with Don Hogan Jr of Athlete Wallet and then eat at one of my favorite vegan organic nutrition food and juice spots. Most definitely have to visit Mogul Exotics to get them a luxury car rental to drive while they are in the city as well. We’ll hit the studio before going to a live tapping of the Intellects Connect podcast show. Get some daiquiris and New Orleans seafood at Pappadeaux and on another day get some margaritas at one of our many Tex-Mex restaurants in the city. On the weekend we got to hit the club and after hours spot, then top it off with some good vibes and good music at brunch on Sunday funday.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna first shoutout my family, my loved one, friends and then anybody who ever streamed and shared my music, supported my companies, purchased merch or even a house from me. Your loyalty over the years is forever appreciated. I also want to give credit to my cousin Master P for giving me the game to become my own mogul and showing me that its truly No Limit to what we can accomplish.
