We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Higgins Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is, “And this too shall pass.” It is a line I say, when I’m in the middle of a bad day or situation. It is the promise of God, that a better day is on the horizon. I couldn’t count how many times I have said that line and a positive energy had moved into a negative space.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Creativity is a gift that I have in abundance. You mix that with friends and family that always have a story to share.; you have a writer in the making. What I learned from being very creative is always carry a notepad with you. You can capture the idea and have something to work on when the time permits.

The problem I had to overcome was a short attention spand and editing. So, I have created my own three part editing system. Some would say just get an editor, but I have found out that you set the tone for your book and the better you edited before getting the second opinion works best.

As a writer, I want people to not get to caught up with your first few projects. With each project you will learn more, gain your style of writing, and get faster at putting out better projects. Be your greatest fan and one day you may read a review, “You wrote the best India book I have ever read.” That review keeps me going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not from Houston, so I don’t know if I’m the best influencer. But I love your downtown section, with the oriental theme. Turtles and fishes in the ponds was my favorite thing to do. I actually stayed in Houston two weeks getting my airframe and powerplant license to work on commercial aircraft. The Embassy Suites, out Sugarland was a nice place to stay.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My first shout out, goes to author and entrepreneur Teri Woods. She showed me that you can make urban novels and be successful. She also had a conversation with me and told me I was on the right path to self-publishing. With that said. I felt confident releasing my first novel Warnock Uncut, which is an urban humor novel.

Second shout out, goes to the novel Richest Man in Babylon. It is a great inspiration on how to build wealth. Building that nest egg, through the strategies in that book, gave me confidence to move forward with my own publishing company. It also gave me some principles to make Unconscious Wealth Building a better financial novel.

My last shout out, goes to my family tree. My mom is the owner of an accessories and dolls making business. Which was my example towards the path of selling clothes and accessories. I also have a great grandfather, who was doing the most, from preaching, farming, moonshine, and God only knows what else. My uncle owned a carpeting business that I worked for off and on. He was a hard man to work for, but he was also a beckon of light for business and craftsmanship. That level of craftsmanship goes into the drones, helicopters, or planes I work on today.
