Meet Shauntee Smith | Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shauntee Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shauntee, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think creativity has always been in me! As a young girl I would always decorate my room and my friends would come over thinking that it was the room that belonged to my parents. However, I didn’t realize that I was creative until I went off to college. I decorated my side of my dorm room and I remember sitting on the edge of my bed thinking, Wow! I did a really great job! That was my AHA moment! It was then that I realized that I loved decor and everything beautiful. I realized that I had a knack for taking things and making it work. I realized that I could be creative! I could take what I had and make it look like something. I can’t take all the credit though. My parents are two amazingly, creative people. My father was an art teacher for over 30 years and my mother is a musician, my grandfather was always the life of the party. He was like a real live Santa Clause, so I suppose I got it honest. As the pandemic affected all of us, I had to pause my job as a Flight Attendant. I needed to get all of my creative thoughts and ideas out. I always have a million ideas! That’s when I decided to pursue my business as an Event Planner for my company, Partée, Parties by Shauntée. I take my ideas and create, create, create! I come up with a theme, design plan, and execute my vision and bring it to life with a party! With my business I can take my love for decor and partner it with my love for entertaining and give clients the party of their dreams! My mind is always swimming with ideas and different visions. All I need is someone to say, “Hey, I want to throw a party!” And that’s all I need to hear!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The outcome of an event is my art! I usually make several of my party decor pieces by hand. When a client walks into their event and sees the final outcome, it makes me so proud of the tasks that I’ve accomplished. I don’t think I could’ve gotten here on my own. It took the support from my family, cheering me on & telling me I could do it! It’s not always very easy but it does come naturally. When it comes naturally you’re able to overcome challenges. Being able to think quickly, being organized and having a backup plan always helps. There are always lessons to be learned with every single event and just through experiences, period. I’ll continue to learn from this business each and every day! Things are constantly changing so I gotta change with it, learn from it and keep growing! I want the world to know that what I do, I do it with my entire heart put into it. It will never be half done. I do it with love!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite places to eat are The Breakfast Klub, LA Crawfish-the Missouri City location because I’m from Mo. City!! and Steak48 is a MUST!! I’m looking to experience the 3rd Ward Bike Tours and Houston Grub Park to taste the best Food Trucks Houston has to offer! I hear it’s amazing! I also love going to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I usually attend on Black Heritage Day! So much to see & so much to learn! Houston is so well diverse and has so much to offer. I still haven’t experienced everything even though I’ve lived here my entire life! I would like to see so much more!

This is dedicated to my grandparents (who are no longer with us, my parents who instilled love and values in me, my children and loving husband for their amazing help and support! Without a support system, it’s difficult to accomplish your dreams!
