We had the good fortune of connecting with Javeon Stuckey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javeon, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Believe in what you have built and accomplished. Yes you will have your doubts but believe in yourself and your business the way you did when you started. You will not be able to appease everyone, but know there are thousands, possibly millions of people who would love to have your services.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So i am recording artist first and foremost. I love how i get to express myself in the booth and just think of creative ways to sound different. I ended up creating the ginkgangbrand and becoming a DJ as a way to promote my music. This was a very tall task as i had to learn how to DJ and basically start from the bottom and get venues to take a chance on booking me. The ginkgangbrand merchandise i believe was the most difficult and most expensive part. There was a lot of ideas scrapped and a lot of money that i felt was wasted do to failed attempts. It was a struggle to say the least. I did not give up though. I kept thinking outside the box and coming up with different strategies and now my brand is growing at a great rate. Gink stands or a new wave or different lifestyle then the normal. You can do what you feel and never have to worry about judgement. I want people to know my brand is like a rated PG movie, Its for everybody!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First spot im taking anyone is Lotus seafood. That place has the best seafood I have ever tasted in my life, and for desert i’d take them to cinnaholic. simply the best cinnamon rolls ever! For a good night life im going to Atomic Bottle or The Address. Prospect park is also a great place to hang out and have drinks. Houston is filled with good food such as, Daves Hot chicken, Harry’s Restaurant, Rice Box, Taste + Bar & Kitchen, Red Circle Ice Cream, Truth BBQ, Micos Hot chicken, The locker room, and J&J lounge

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jalene Mack deserves the biggest shout out from me. This woman has believed in me since before i even arrived in Houston. She has put so much time, effort and commitment into making sure i have the right tools and people around me so that i can succeed. Jalene is the most hardworking woman ever and i couldn’t ask for a better person in my corner. I love you big sis!
