We had the good fortune of connecting with Rina Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was thinking about staring this business I was a bit nervous. At the time there was not a lot of people doing balloons like they are now. So I was always researching many pages and YouTube channels on how to make my work look beautiful but still different than others. Once I started and put it out there about being in the balloon business I gotten many messages about doing jobs! I was excited! I remember thinking about getting advertisements done and business cards lol it was so exciting starting this business. I stared off doing 1-3 jobs a weekend to now being booked during the week and multiple jobs on the weekends. I use to see women teaching classes and would say wow! I want to get to that point! And now I am! I have had more than 4 classes and a few one on ones. I remember believing in my self and not giving up on my dream of being my own boss. I would like to encourage any and everyone else to not give up on something they dream of. All you have to do is put your heart and mind to it!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
BalloonsHTX is a Houston based company. Although, travel is accepted upon requests. What I’m most proud of is the recommendations I’ve gotten to work with a lot of our Houstonian companies, celebrities and Corporate companies! We recently did a big job for J. Cole at the Toyota center. That was amazing! I got to where I am today with the company but social net working. Going to events. Passing out cards! Meeting with a lot of women who are in business like I am. I’m always learning new things along the way and I’m sure that won’t stop! Lol what id love for the world to know is that we are all about women empowerment. This is why I have classes on learning my tricks and traits of doing balloons. I love to encourage other women to be their best and be their own boss!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d definitely take them to dinner at The Gatspy steak house. I would recommend the Marriott marquess Houston or post oak hotel. S For sea food we would do willie G’s I’d take them to do lunch at one of the nice restaurants in the river oaks district. And for some yummy snacks I’d say tampicos snow cones 😋 for sushi id say the fish on grey st in midtown. I’d stop by Mr. X new night club we have in Houston or Belvedere for Latin night.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my parents! Friends and family members! Even strangers! For always supporting me. Always showing the love they do and staying loyal to me.
